A good news: G.Skill accepted the warranty return, and sending new ones. trop mal a qui, vraiment? La plulart des gens autour de moi ont déjà perdus leurs boulots dans les deux dernières années. Ils se reorientent dans des secteurs hors de la tech, qui n'engage plus autant. C'est une arnaque de ponzi qui ne sert qu'à extraire encore plus de ressources de la majorité de la population pour les réinjecter dans les mêmes poches déjà trop pleines.

Aussi, le thème du remplacement du travailleur par l'IA est difficile à aborder. Ce que j'ai retenu dernièrement de certaines lecture de papiers, d'articles et de stats, c'est que ce n'est pas le cas: mais que l'idée est utilisé comme prétexte pour virer des effectifs.
Je fais une vraie différence entre "compétent" et "capable". Une IAg est très capable de faire des images, des textes… et très rapidement car c'est fait par un ordinateur. Mais c'est un travail sans compétence : avec les erreurs qui montrent qu'il n'y a aucune compréhension, que c'est juste du contenu recraché après une bouillie statistique, que c'est non fiable. @fredurb1

Eine sehr berechtigte Anmerkung der GRÜNEN! Das Bundeswirtschafts- und Energieministerium hat unter Robert Habeck sicher auch manches falsch gemacht bzw. nicht verständlich genug kommuniziert. Die aktuelle Führung des gleichen Ministeriums, die Gaslobbyistin Katharina Reiche, ist jedoch nicht nur ein Totalausfall - diese Lobbyistin ist der Frontalangriff der Merz-CDU auf das Unterfangen Deutschlands, von fossilen Energien mehr denn zweifelhafter Staaten weg zukommen.
Sprechen wir alle von den gleichen Zielen? Könnte es sein, dass man spätestens im Rückblick feststellen muss, dass Frau Minister ganz andere Ziele verfolgt?
Euer Tröt setzt voraus, dass die Unabhängigkeit von fossiler Energie und deren Herkunftsländern ein gemeinsames Ziel wären. Dem ist mitnichten so. Die primären Ziele von #GasKathie und #NichtMeinKanzler sind die Befriedigung der Wünsche der Unternehmen, deren Lobbyist*innen sie sind. Alles andere ist für sie nachrangig. Das ist keine Regierung, das ist eine Clique von Lobbyist*innen und die SPD macht mit, dass sie nicht als Splitterpartei am Katzentisch landet.
Versucht, die #Linke und mindestens Teile der #FCKSPD auf die Seite des #Klimas und damit unseres Planeten zu bringen. Nur so sind #Reiche und ihre Lobbytruppen zu STOPPEN!!!!

ich bin definitiv kein Reiche/Merz Fan, (jetzt kommt aber ein - ) aber: Die Grafik ist schon krass manipulativ - haltet ihr eure Zielgruppe für so doof / einfach beeinflussbar? Bin etwas enttäuscht. Hätte ich mir die Grafik nur 10 Sekunden angeschaut, hätte ich sie viel krasser gedeutet. Nur die 2026 machte mich dann kurz stutzig, weil ist doch noch garnicht um? Dann fiel mir auf: Der rote Pfeil ist (wortwörtlich) ein stark zugespitzter und nicht der 100% reale Trend.

i tried subscribing to only "Technology" and "Science", and this is what I got. It doesn't do the best job of keeping to the requested subjects. "NFT" and "Technology" were funny coincidences. It often has places and people who aren't relevant to technology/science. Unless you can call politics and art sciences.

Auf den 139.136 ha könnten also durch PV 136.353.280 MWh erzeugt werden. Das wären 136,35 TWh, bzw. eine Erhöhung der gesamten Stromproduktion in D (~500 TWh) um knapp 28%.
Mit Agri-PV wäre es weniger Strom, dafür (für Ernährung) nutzbares Getreide und/oder Blühwiesen, die über Artenschutz die Landwirtschaft drumrum robuster machen.

Zu beachten hier: PV-Strom in Batterie-Autos ist um riesige Faktoren effizienter als Biofuel. Die gleiche Fläche mit PV bringt das Auto 190 mal weiter als mit Biodiesel aus Raps. Selbst Strom aus Energiemais (->Methan->Verstromung) ist 50 mal schlechter als PV->Batterie.
Große Empfehlung für das ISE Paper[4], wo dieser Reichweitengewinn von E-Auto + PV gegenüber jeglichem Bio- oder e-Fuel noch mal vorgerechnet wird.

@balkonsolar Yikes! How are you preventing backfeed to the grid and not defeating the whole point of a breaker box? Backfeeding from an outlet kills people!
@BalooUriza @balkonsolar a grid tie inverter is synchronized to the grid and has to stop if the grid goes down, because otherwise it would loose sync and suddenly supply 100% of the load.
These imverters are designed to inject current in your home mains by using a voltage slightly higher than the grid, so it is consumed first.
@f4grx I'm trying to work out in my head how this isn't a "suicide cord" situation. I realize we're talking about differing electrical systems but to folks used to the power systems in use in North America and Japan, this just sets off all kinds of safety alarms in our heads so I'm wondering what's different that's making it safe?
@f4grx The part that I'm concerned about here is the graphic that seems to imply you can just plug this in to backfeed a wall socket that you'd normally use to plug a lamp or TV into, and that's the part that's specifically dangerous, since you're being a power source downstream of all of the safety systems, and people upstream can't guarantee their own safety from you when repairing downed lines as it works here when you just plug into a random wall outlet with a power source.

@BalooUriza @f4grx Accoring to the new German Norm the Metal Pins on the Plug have to disconnected within 0,1 second and after 1 Second there has to be less then 34 Volts on them.
Here are some pictures wehre we test if a an inverter we had at hand actually does that. Even those exceeding the prescribe times did so just after it.
If the Grid goes down the inverter turns itself off. It has Anti Islanding. No Problem
@BalooUriza I might be entirely wrong but as I understand it they have pretty sophisticated current leakage and monitoring abilities and very very quick shut-off. So yes it's back feed but it can detect if something anomalous has happened so it locks out if a breaker is tripped or if a line is cut. I don't believe you can use these in an outage situation, and you're correct it would be unsafe without an interlock. @f4grx @balkonsolar

@pfriedma @f4grx @BalooUriza Yes a normal Plug in PV sytem is of no use in a power outage. For that you need a system with a battery that can form an island system.
@pfriedma @f4grx @BalooUriza true, you can't use these in an outage. They don't oscillate themselves, need the grid to follow it (not an expert, @balkonsolar know the details probably). So for danger, the remaining thing is the shape of the plug, with the german "SchuKo" style hiding the pins until the connection is severed, which isn't quite so easy with these flat US-style sockets i guess... There's still discussion about "but what if i really quickly pull the plug out" though...
@f4grx @pfriedma @BalooUriza @balkonsolar correct. Just as your car brake "should" immediately stop the anti lock algo when a sensor breaks. Admittedly, the regulations and budgets are not the same, but in the time a human pulls out a plug, a microcontroller can do quite a big of work.
Someone needs to put the work in, though. You're right.

@pfriedma That's what I'm saying,you'd need to have a cutover interlock at the breaker box, AND you can't just plug panels into any random outlet (since you would be bypassing circuit protection). I know that much from living someplace where my neighbor generated all the power for like 3 households and dealing with that, and still have capacity left over and still had a cutover to sell back power to the electric co-op.
@BalooUriza @pfriedma @f4grx @balkonsolar A grid-tied solar PV inverter isn't like a gas generator. It follows the grid waveform and will cut out within one cycle if the grid is lost. Unplugging the inverter, the plug is dead before the pins are exposed to be touched.
At 230V, 800W (the German limit for plugin solar) is ~3.5A. The German electrical regulator has deemed that a typical 16A power circuit wired in 1.5 sq.mm. cable will still be safe with 3.5A of current fed from the "wrong end".
@BalooUriza If your question is "where is the device that guarantees the inverter cuts off if it loses connection to the grid", it's internal to the inverter. All grid tie inverters should have this function.
I don't know the detailed German spec for these things but the British one is Engineering Recommendation G98.
@BalooUriza @f4grx you are safe if you only plug in a system up to 800 W/ 960 Wp. Stuff above that might make a problem, but generally the wires here should be able to handle 3600 W + 800 W.
@BalooUriza @balkonsolar no, the panels have a built-in inverter that only works as long as it detects a healthy grid supply. This was specificly designed as a safety measure to prevent backfeeding of disabled circuits.
They are also limited in power to ensure that they can't defeat circuit breakers in detecting overcurrent through house wiring.

Haven't watched the video yet, but have you ever considered uploading your videos to #peertube? I think if anyone has an audience that would carry over pretty well to Peertube it's you. And one of the biggest issues with Peertube at the moment is a lack of high quality content and creators.

@chrismerkel Fair enough, and that's one of the other biggest issues with Peertube at the moment. But my understanding is, for many YouTube creators anyway, Ad revenue is a pretty small fraction of their income. Obviously I can't say much on that for Alec specifically.
Also the viewership is so low, I doubt it would even make much of a difference at the moment. Obviously that could change in the future but he could always stop uploading to Peertube, or find some other monetization strategy.

one of my key takeaways from the video, aside from what already is stated in the video itself,, is how easily i am personally affected by propaganda and how important keeping my own voice alive is.
for a while now, i felt it was rather useless to put my own views out, and i would stay content thinking/knowing that i am right. and that's one thing a well crafted propaganda intends to achieve, to put enough noise out that people start thinking that they can't change anything.
your videos inspire me to see things more clearly, to not ignore things because i am used to them, and as a consequence to make more informed decisions. and today i was able to see how easy it was to steer me away from some obvious truth.

2a- While I agree that there's a massive capitalist interest in misleading people, my gut says the bigger challenge is people just... not reexamining assumptions that are years or decades out-of-date. Either because it's cognitively expensive (taking time and mental focus off of day-to-day work, which is also an opportunity capitalist interests are happy to exploit), or because they straight up lack the tools to approach the subject. Maybe that's wrong, and fraud/deception are really the impetus behind wasting time and money on disposable energy.
But I really think the Overestimate Short Term & Underestimate Long Term problem does a lot more heavy lifting in that regard. Humans in survival mode (as so many of us have been for the past 10-40 years) need to focus on the short term, and thinking about the long term is an unaffordable luxury.
3- Tangentially related to cognitive expense/load, I process information better with my eyes than my ears. Showing more of the math when you were running the numbers would have made that easier for me to grasp and process.

4- There was a dark, gallows laugh when you talked about the First Amendment rights and the press being declared enemies of the people as Donald Trump is racistly arresting four black journalists. 5- We've lost so much from caring too much about what billionaires and cult leaders say, and caring too little for our own neighbors. I don't know how we solve the big problem. @mattesilver The most recent figues show that panels that were installed in the 80's are still at around 80% efficiency – that's after 40 years of use.
@mattesilver Real data from the field tells us that 25 years is a low-ball conservative number. The oldest in continuous operation PV plant still running on the panels installed over 40 years ago still operates at well over 80% of fresh efficiency.
And PV tech has only gotten better and more durable.
Modern PV panels are sold with warranties of 30 years or longer on maintaining over 80% of their fresh conversion efficiency.

I still think it's absolutely crazy how cheap solar panels are
I got my 500w panels, new and unused, for 50-60 a piece, without buying in bulk.
That's cheaper than standard plywood. It's literally CHEAPER to build a house out of SOLAR PANELS than it is to build out of low grade PLYWOOD.
They've gone up a little bit in price since but not much, you can still get 500w panels for around 70 euros a piece, example here: solar-outlet.nl/zonnepanelen/
@anthropy The panels themselves are yeah, but due to decisions in politics we do face the fact the energy they produce can become worthless without a battery or a way to control them. So even though I got solar panels already I need to look into a several thousand euro investment to not pay for them being there that is very unlikely to pay back soon... :P
There is environmental reasons why I will, money just ain't everything with solar in The Netherlands at the moment.
The first 3/4 or whatever was mostly stuff I kind of knew - not the specific figures and examples you give - exactly how much more energy would be available just from converting fields growing corn for ethanol fuel into solar fields, for example.

During the energy crisis of the 70s Sweden went all-in on nuclear. During that period, home owners were told/incentivised (unsure) that they should also throw out their oil/coal/wood furnaces and go all-electric since it was and was going to be _so_ much cheaper. We built out a lot of electrical direct heating back then.
This has given us an amazing situation now. We're already big on heat pumps, giving us 4-5 times better efficiency compared to direct heating, and going solar is just to hook it all up since everyting is already electric.
Looking in from Europe, all I can say is well said. I hope your words can fuel the change the US and the world needs. How can it be that we are able to pump billions into things like border protection, thugs, "AI"-Bullshit, but people can't get together and spend that money on energy independence ONCE?! It's maddening and so good to hear it articulated like this.

@balkonsolar Tbf that is "subsidized" in the sense that you don't pay any VAT like you do on any other product in Germany. Still massively cheaper, even if you had to pay VAT (2400€, i.e. still half of the American counterpart). On another note: I literally thought glass alone was more expensive than this and now you get glass + solar for that price
Just wanted to say, watched most of this video, absolutely loved it. Like I already knew most of this stuff, but even more than the bit of added detail, the way that you framed it, the explanation you gave, and the fact that you even said at the end "I'm saying this because this way convinces people."
...I am definitely going to be using this exact way of framing the issue way more often, probably with the added fact that acquiring oil has required a lot of warfare, so we are literally just asking that the money going into warfare and environmental response get put into long-term energy-security instead.

For everything except the aluminium frame, recycling is significantly complicated by the fact that the adhesive used is a resin which can't easily be molten/dissolved. Right now the state of the art is to just shred the glass with everything adhered to it and use it as concrete fill. The one exception ist that there's a bit of a scramble to capture the silver contained in the solder of panels manufactured during the first boom years of photovoltaics which are starting to age out, but as I understand that comes at the cost of wasting the other materials.
Theres lots of cool research in this field: how to manufacture for recycling, how to melt the cells and electrolyze the impurities out if the silicon, etc.

I have been following you for many years but only ubtil now did I feel the urge and need to reach out and say something. I truly admire what you said and the way you stand up for others.
So I finally got a chance to watch this and…wow, I’ll just say 💯 on the ending, and I have nothing but respect for you being willing to go all out like that.
I really appreciate pushing the perspective of “one and done” for every gallon of fuel we burn.
One thing I wanted to note, while ICE engines (not those guys 😂) burn fuel with near 100% efficiency, my understanding is a car motor actually loses something around 80% of that energy through heat, so it’s even WORSE.
I feel can't find the right words to formulate a comment that would express my sympathies towards you, your cause and your way or fighting for that cause, in an adequate way. I'll try anyway.

Liebe Presseclub-Redaktion, ihr wisst doch ganz genau, dass das alle nur Scheindebatten sind, die von den echten Problemen ablenken.
Es wäre eure journalistische Aufgabe, Presseclub, diesen Unfug schon im Teaser aufzuzeigen.

I remember seeing a French comedian called Paul Cabannes talking about the time he met the Brazilian president and the French president at the G20 summit, and he wondered how presidents manage to stay sane when they're always surrounded by sycophants. I guess not all of them manage it, and neither do the billionaires.

@shufei Thank you. I like the "fuwa fuwa" name 💜 About the photography and art-direction; it was my main work around 15 years ago. Painting over 3D renderings, color tweaking them to find the right ambiance, contrast and shading. I cannot say I was really good at this, but for sure it left me a little something I do try to put an extra care when I color my comics.

My layer stack is usually classic: one layer for the line-art (a temporary blue sketch under it) and then a painting pass on a flat layer under the lines. If you have Krita installed, you can check the layered full resolution files for the comics: I host them here peppercarrot.com/0_sources/min…
@shufei It's always humbling to see the amount of work that goes into art. It's also mind-shattering how much more time the details take, but I think it makes the piece hold up even under scrutiny and hold its magic even with multiple viewings? Either way, the effort is appreciated 👏

Ich finde sie Geschichte von @buersten einfach eine der most wholesome Fediverse stories ever! Es ist so schön zu sehen, wie die viral gingen, einfach mit einem sympathischen, ehrlichen Auftreten. Background: August of this year marks 45th anniversary of a Nixdorf Computer apprenticeship, and we're meeting. I thought it would be cute to present colleagues with a punch card (which is what we first programmed on) as a souvenir.

Der Begriff "Identitätspolitik" wurde in den letzten Jahren von rechter Politik im Bündnis mit rechten Medienmenschen zu einem Schreckgespenst aufgebaut und dabei bewusst missverstanden und grotesk verzerrt.
Erziehungswissenschaftler Markus Rieger-Ladich stellt den Begriff hier vom Kopf wieder auf die Füße und ergänzt ihn um die "Identitätspolitik von oben" bzw. von rechts. Sehr hörenswert und zur Weiterempfehlung geeignet.
Was mir dabei auffällt:
1. Es fühlt sich beinahe befremdlich an, zu diesem Thema Fakten und geschichtliche Einordungen zu hören, wo doch - auch in den Medien - Lügen und Polemik zum Standard geworden sind. Der Begriff scheint durch seinen Missbrauch wie "Wokeness" oder "Gender" nahezu verbrannt.
2. Christiane Florin, die dieses Interview wie immer inhaltlich kompetent und hoch konzentriert führt, zeigt wieder einmal, wie großartig guter Journalismus sein kann - und leider auch, was anderswo fehlt.
Identitätspolitik zielte ursprünglich auf gleiche Rechte für alle. Die Rechte verkehrt den Begriff ins Gegenteil, klagt Erziehungswissenschaftler Rieger-Ladich
