The first time I flew after lockdowns, when I was early transition, I knew I wouldn't really pass at the TSA, and I didn't. They were fine about it, but as I was putting my shoes on, an older gentleman-looking person came over to me, leaned down, and whispered:
"I admire you. If I was younger, or the world was different, maybe I'd have the courage too."
She didn't give me a chance to reply, just slipped back into the chaos of the checkpoint.
That conversion still haunts me, and every time I fly, I look for her at the checkpoint. I've never found her again.
I hope she found her way.

Texas JUST passed the most restrictive "trans bathroom" law in the country. States have removed us from their list of protected classes in their constitutions. Our healthcare is threatened with every single federal government spending bill. There's rumors the FBI is labeling us as a "terrorist organization." The supreme court is talking about pushing states to revert our birth certificates. Our passports are being invalidated.
We're in QUITE a lot of danger and it gets worse every single week, to the point that a vast majority of trans people and their families have some sort of escape plan *from the country* in progress right now, just in case the govt decides to start imprisoning us on a whim.
You, as a person, might not think much about us. But the governments of this country think about nothing else. And they've riled up their base SO much that we are in constant threat of physical violence.
