Like, there was one dude a while back who insisted that women couldn’t be surgeons because they didn’t believe in the moon or in stars? I think each and every one of these guys is uniquely fucked up and if I can’t escape them, I would love to sneer at them.

On August 23, though, she again appeared on the platform, spreading more false and misleading commentary on Khelif. Her first post was a quote from a transphobic hit piece against Khelif by Colin Wright, the former managing editor of the far-right website Quillette.
I mean, does she actually write books anymore? Or is she a full time TERF now? Because that's a direct conflict between what's in her legal best interest and in her professional best interest.
@techtakes Speaking as a working writer: she's a hobbyist writer. At this point she's so rich she could spend £100K/week of her capital and still be a multimillionaire when she dies aged 100+. A novel typically takes a year to write and even JKR is unlikely to make significantly more than £100K from a book (unless it gets filmed). So she keeps writing for ego/self-esteem but not from necessity (to stop writing would leave a hole in her life).

As you can see we don't have a lot of really big news to share, lately. It nearly feels like a good time to call an end to the beta test phase of PieFed's development and formally release a version. With that in mind, over the next little while, we will focus on stability and bug fixes so the first release is something people can stick with without immediately getting back on the dev branch treadmill.
Technically, there is no mobile app for PieFed but there is a way that you can get something that is almost the same. PieFed is a ‘Progressive Web App’ meaning it is a website that can be installed into your phone as if it was a real app.

Ist es ein Buch, dass genau dieses kritische, rationale Denken lehrt?
Es wird kaum eine Überraschung sein, dass es keines dieser Werke ist. Statt dessen ist es:

Was einem gleich am Titel auffallen kann, ist, dass die Leser hier mitnichten dazu eingeladen werden, ihre Fähigkeiten als Mitglieder einer skeptischen Organisation zu schärfen … nein, hier werden Antworten auf eine “Warum?”-Frage angekündigt.
Der Blurb
Schauen wir uns den Blurb des Buchs an. Was steckt hinter dem Titel? Blurb des Buchs “Gefangen in der Opferrolle” von der Seite des, zur Jungen Freiheit gehörigen, JF Buchdienst. Das fängt schon mal gut mit der Frage an, ob wir in einem Patriarchat leben. Wenn das im Buch bereits zur Debatte steht, kann der Rest nur noch spassiger werden.
Die Erkenntnisse des Herrn Doktoranden seien alarmierend.
Zusammengenommen mit Behauptungen dass “junge Menschen” “ängstlicher” und “unzufriedener” würden, der Behauptung “Wokeness”, aber vor allem auch der “Ruf nach politischer Korrektheit” würde “Schaden anrichten” … ich fasse den Rest mal grob zusammen: Die verderben unserer Jugend und machen sie krank und pervers!!!
Damit befinden wir uns rhetorisch bereits ganz tief im roten Bereich der “Moral Panic” wie wir sie von der Lesesucht, über den Comics Code, und die “Schwule verderben die Jugend”-Panik, über die D&D-Satanismus-Panik, über die Computerspiele-machen-Mörder-Panik bis hin zur “Digitalen Demenz”-Panik kennen.
Was zwischen den Zeilen mitschwingt:
gesellschaftliche Aushandlungsprozesse sind böse
wie es ist, ist es gut und zwar für alle!
es liegt nicht an struktureller Ungerechtigkeit sondern nur an DIR SELBST! Du bist schuld, wenn Du nicht den Hinteren zusammenkneifst und mit der Gesellschaft klar kommst, wie sie eben ist. Wenn Du was anderes denkst, bist du gefährlich!!!
Mit andere Worten, während Stella Young das Problem zwischen struktureller Ungerechtigkeit und der richtigen Einstellungen so zusamamenfasst “No amount of smiling at a flight of stairs has ever made it turn into a ramp“, möchte uns der Herr Doktorand verdeutlichen, dass uns der Abbau bestehender, struktureller Ungerechtigkeit sowohl persönlich, als auch als Gesellschaft schadet.
Interessant ist in diesem Zusammenhang, welche Gruppen — abgesehen vielleicht von der FDP — sonst noch genau dieses Liedchen singen. Genau: Die gesamte Schwurbel- und die Coachingbranche. Denn die verdienen ja leider am Abbau struktureller Ungerechtigkeit gar nichts, am verzweifelten Versuch von Menschen, sich für eine unpassende Gesellschaft passend zu machen, aber sehr viel.
Das Cover
Schauen wir uns als nächstes die Bildsprache des Covers an. Cover: Gefangen in der Opferrolle — Warum Wokeness scheitert — von Varnan Chandreswaran Ganz offensichtlich möchte das Cover eine Person zeigen, die sich in einem offenen Käfig befindet, aber aus eigenem Antrieb da nicht raus will.
Allerdings sitzt dieser Käfig dort, wo man den Kopf eines Menschen vermuten würde und darin befindet sich ein Vogel. Was das Bild also, egal ob absichtlich oder unterbewusst auch noch vermittelt:
“die haben einen Vogel” — Abwertung eines weltanschaulichen Gegenübers als irrational und nicht ganz richtig im Kopf — genau die gleiche Rhetorik also, wenn ein Nikil Mukerji “Wokeness” mit Esoterik vergleicht. Damit wird definiert, dass man sich mit den Inhalten einer anderen Weltanschauung beschäftigen muss, sogar nicht einmal darf — (Was nebenbei alle Weltanschauungen kennzeichnet, denn Menschen sind nun mal keine rationalen Wesen und auch ihre Sicht auf die Welt nicht. Das Problem entsteht, wenn dies isoliert einer Weltanschauung unterstellt wird, während man für sich in Anspruch nehmen möchte, komplett rational zu agieren und damit ‘höherwertig’. Ja, wir bewegen uns damit rhetorisch in den Bereich der ‘natürlichen Überlegenheit‘.)
das Bild nimmt der dargestellten Person das Gesicht und damit das Person-Sein
das Bild entmenschlicht, dehumanisiert.
Dass “Wokeness” in Regenbogenfarben daherkommt, zeigt dann auch worum es wahrscheinlich im Kern gehen wird: um Geschlechtervielfalt, bzw. gegen diese.
Womit wir, erneut, rhetorisch bei Debatten der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts angekommen wären und der Behauptung, dass Homosexuelle unsere Kinder verführen und verderben würden.
Dann lasst uns doch als nächstes Mal einen Blick auf den Herrn Doktoranden werfen. Der taucht z.B. in Videos auf wie “Feminismus im Faktencheck” in dem sich zwei Männer(!) darüber unterhalten, warum wir keinen Feminismus brauchen.
Im Blurb des Videos wird der Gast folgendermaßen angekündigt: “Varnan war früher linksextrem bei der Antifa!“
Lasst uns das doch mal auspacken.
Er sei linksextrem gewesen — gehen wir nach der Extremismusdefinition, die vom Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz verwendet wird, hat er sich also gegen die FDGO gestellt?
er “war bei der Antifa” — das klingt danach, als sei die “Antifa” ein Verein dem man beitreten kann und dann ein definiertes Mitglied ist und nicht ein loser Verbund Menschen, die sich in einem ähnlichen sozialen Umfeld mit gemeinsamen politischen Zielen bewegen.
aufgebaut wird hier eine “vom Saulus zum Paulus“-Persona. Die angebliche “Mitgliedschaft” bei “der Antifa” soll seinen heutigen Aussagen mehr Gewicht verleihen, weil er ja anscheinend tiefergehende Einsichten in deren Denkweise besitzt.
dabei wird der typische Spin verwendet, denn man von konservativen Kreisen bis in die extreme Rechte findet, die Antifaschismus mit Linksradikalismus oder Linksextremismusgleichzusetzen versucht und so ebenfalls versucht, diese Haltung, also die Haltung eines jeden anständigen Menschen, zu diskreditieren
Weiter unten wird in den Kapitelüberschriften dann zu “linksradikal” umgeschwenkt.
Der Verlag
Aber dann lasst uns nochmal einen anderen lustigen Abstecher machen. Lasst uns den Verlag ansehen, der das Buch herausgebracht hat:
Erschienen ist das Buch im Eulogia Verlag. Eine Eulogie ist ein Segensspruch und das ist im Zusammenhang mit der sich ansonsten deutlich atheistisch ausrichtenden GWUP schon ein wenig ironisch.
Die Eigenwerbung des Verlags lautet: Die Eulogia Verlags GmbH vereint das Beste aus der Tradition des Verlagswesens und der Innovation des modernen Online Marketings.
Wenn ich ‘modernes Online-Marketing’ lese, dann macht mein Kopf daraus “Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam …“, aber auf die Schnelle habe ich keine Anhaltspunkte finden können, was genau der Verlag damit meint.
Interessant ist aber das “Verlagsprogramm”. Ich setze das in Anführungszeichen, weil sich Verlage normalerweise im Sachbuchbereich auf deutlich erkennbare Themenbereiche hin ausrichten — um die erscheinenden Bücher auch sachgemäß betreuen zu können.
Die Themenauswahl des Eulogia Verlags sieht für eine kleinen Verlag doch ziemlich breit aus. Das bedeutet nicht, dass nicht gewisse Schwerpunkte zu erkennen wären. Darunter:
Ernährungsgurus, Kochbücher (u.a. Anti-Aging)
Python
Fußball
Schwagerschaft
Survival/Selbstversorgung
Anlageberatung (u.a. Bitcoin)
Titel die vage in Richtung Kulturkampf deuten
Alleine schon die Ernährungsratgeber machen einen eher fragwürdigen Eindruck auf mich und anders, als in einem großen Verlag, wo sich zwischen vielen seriösen Titeln ein paar faule Äpfel finden, steht hier das Buch des Herrn Doktoraden auf einer Seite neben Crypto- und Ernährungsquark. Das wäre, für mich persönlich, nicht das Umfeld, in dem ich eines meiner Bücher sehen wollte, aber YMMV.
Der Eindruck, der sich beim Anblick des Verlagsangebots verfestigt, ist, dass sich die ‘innovative Online-Marketing-Strategie’ des Verlages darin erschöpft, YouTubern Senf ums Maul zu schmieren, die sich bereits eine eigene Followerschaft erarbeitet haben, an die man dann die Bücher relativ leicht verkaufen kann. Kurz: das ‘Marketing’ besteht darin, dass der verlegte Autor die Marketingplattform bereits erarbeitet hat.
Eine Prüfung, ob die Inhalte Hand und Fuß haben, scheint auf den ersten Blick weniger relevant zu sein, als die Zahl der Kanalabos und -klicks.
Das Fazit
Dass man beim Beitritt zur GWUP nun ein Buch erhält, dass eben nicht kritisches Denken lehrt, sondern das eher den Charakter eines politischen “Arguliners” hat, sagt mir folgendes:

die GWUP sendet damit ein deutliches Signal, dass alle potenziellen Neumitglieder abschreckt, die tatsächlich einer skeptischen Organisation beitreten möchten, statt einer politischen — man möchte eine homogene Mitgliederbasis, die sich weltanschaulich auf einer Linie befindet
man positioniert sich offen als politische Organisation mit Anschlußfähigkeit an rechte und rechtspopulistische Weltanschauungen, möchte aber das Feigenblatt des Skeptizismus gerne behalten — denn das braucht man, um gar nicht erst auf Inhalte einzugehen sondern rein mit Totschlagargumenten der Kategorie “krank“, “pervers” und “irrational” zu arbeiten.
man erteilt jeder Form einer gerechteren, weniger ungleichen Gesellschaft und Weltanschauungen, die diese anstreben, eine Absage
man akzeptiert nur noch eine Weltanschauung auf die die GWUP nun gezielt “optimiert” wird
man schämt sich nicht offene Vetternwirtschaft zu betreiben und Buchverkäufe eines im Juni in einem Kleinverlag erschienenen Buchs, als ein ‘kostenloses Goodie’ künstlich zu pushen.
Dass das Buch bereits in einschlägigen Shops, z.b. dem der “Jungen Freiheit” geführt wird, sollte niemanden wundern. Ob man sich bei der GWUP noch ob der Umarmung von rechts gruselt — oder lieber wieder empört von ‘Kontaktschuld’ redet, als könne man gar nichts dafür, dass auch ganz Rechtsaußen das Buch toll findet —, sei dahingestellt.

Vor einiger Zeit habe ich mir ganz aktiv die Frage stellen müssen, ob ich im Apple Ecosystem bleibe oder, nach 8 Jahren, wieder wie ein räudiger Hund zurück zu Google gekrochen komme. Am Ende hat die Vernunft gesiegt, und ich bleibe bei Apple.
Gründe gibt es recht viele, aber der Hauptgrund liegt einfach in der Natur der beiden Firmen. Google ist eine Werbefirma, die uns für unsere Daten mit schönen Spielsachen bezahlt. Apple ist eine Hardware-Firma, der unsere Daten mehr oder weniger egal sind, so lange wir brav mehr für einen Laptop bezahlen als gut für uns ist.
Ich zahle gerne etwas extra, um meine Daten bei mir zu behalten.
Da ist nur ein Haken: selbst wer Apple diese Wucherpreise bezahlt, ist immer noch ein Sklave Google’s. Und das musste sich ändern. Also habe ich. Mit … sagen wir mal „durchwachsenem“ Erfolg.

Als Suchmaschine nutze ich nicht erst seitdem Kagi. Kagi kostet Geld, hat aber ein paar geile Features, die ich bei Google vermisse. Und die Werbung und “promoted results” vermisse ich gar nicht. Ich kann zum Beispiel Quellen als wichtiger oder unwichtiger markieren Einstellungen für Resultate bei Kagi. Vermissen tu ich nichts, die Suchergebnisse sind auch seit ein paar Wochen on-par oder besser als die bei Google. Das größte Problem bei Kagi ist es, Browsern und Betriebssystemen beizubringen, dass das jetzt die Suchmaschine ist. Für Chrome (das wäre ja wieder Google) gibt es da ein Plugin, iOS Safari muss umständlich umgestellt werden indem man extra Apps installiert.
Was uns zum Browser bringt. Arc nutzt zwar Chromium, ist aber seit seiner frühen Beta mein Lieblingsbrowser, weil außer der Seite nichts angezeigt wird. Alles “technische”, von der URL-Zeile an, wird versteckt und mit Tastenkombinationen aufgerufen. Das ist gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber geht schnell. Sonst Safari. Auch wegen der Einbindung der Apple Keychain, für die bei Arc ein Plugin gebraucht wird.

Bei Maps wird’s schwierig. Zwar wird Apple Maps immer besser, aber an Google kommt es halt nicht ran. Es fehlen hunderte von Einträgen alleine in meiner Gegend, und wenn es darum geht, Restaurants oder Hotels zu finden, ist es ganz schlimm außerhalb der US-amerikanischen Ballungszentren. Vielleicht nicht ganz so schlimm in Berlin wie in Köln, Hamburg, oder München, aber wer sich in Berlin aufhält, der hat sowieso den Griff ans Leben verloren. Und “wie komme ich hier weg” kann auch Apple gut beantworten.
Bleibt YouTube, was ich in der Tat sehr vermisse. Viele meiner Freunde sind Creators, und deren Videos kommen halt nun mal nicht außerhalb der Site vor. Auch wenn Google’s CPM scheiße ist, die generelle Apathie des Fediverse führt dazu, dass man eben dort keinen Qualitätscontent machen kann, weil die Zuschauerzahlen nicht die Werbeeinblendungen bringen, die für Redaktion und Schnitt sowie Recherche bezahlen.

I don't think the definition of community is necessarily problematic. It centers on hierarchy and authority, yes. But even most anarchists recognize natural hierarchies. Parents have authority over children because children are not able to govern themselves. Community elders have authority within a community because of their age, experience, and the respect they've earned through longstanding ties to the community. When you need specialized information, about law, or medicine, or how to repair a car, or the difference between right and wrong, you go to a specialist who studied that field and you defer to their authority derived from their study and knowledge. And so on.
Everyone in a community is, or should be, equal as human beings. But not everyone has served the community equally or earned equal respect. Voluntary hierarchies based on duty and respect are not the same as involuntary hierarchies based on coercion. And it's those voluntary hierarchies that bind communities together.
You should learn the difference between deference and delegation, and then learn to delegate choices and research to experts rather than deferring to them. Where doctors are concerned, it could literally save your life and those of your loved ones.

As for "respect" specifically. Definitions of that word differ widely. Yours is one that is commonly used, but I personally would rather use "human rights" for that. Of course the default should be to be respectful to each other (which you were not), but it is also a common understanding that respect can and should be earned.

Is it so hard to fathom the notion of actually respecting children? Because I mean actual respect. Feeling the same gravitas at your infant child who wants a cookie before bedtime as at a CEO who wants that report on their desk by tomorrow morning when you clock out in five minutes, and vice versa. Just two people who have their own unstated reasons for wanting something that from your perspective appears unreasonable. The only difference is that the state uses its monopoly on violence to enable you to abuse one and enable the other to abuse you.
People will often find themselves in the position where they're forced to accept abuse from others, but that doesn't make it right for them to pass it on, and it doesn't make it right for them to claim that the abuse is fair or compatible with anarchism.
As far as I've seen, it's rare to find someone for who "having earned their respect" isn't code for someone having power over them, and for who "not having earned their respect" isn't code for them having power over someone.

One of our goals here is to grow great things through cooperation, but each act of verbal abuse adds to the toxicity of the soil. When it comes to cooperation, often it is less important that people agree with you than it is that they like you and trust you - and being able to disagree with someone without unfriending them is a powerful skill to develop.

If you truly believe peer pressure is wrong, then the lemmy architecture is fundamentally hostile to you. If an invective adds toxicity to the soil, then the soil here is full of lead already.
But the reason civil debate between neutral people has so little part in progress is because nobody is truly neutral, not because so few people choose to be civil. Marxism works well as a model for society because people are by nature hypocritical. Philosophy, culture, and social groups are a layer of topsoil, vegetation, and human structures covering the mountains of what we think benefits us personally over the course of our lives. Argumentation can redirect superficial flows, which occasionally allows for a key watershed moment where your way of life is redirected onto another plausible course, and that course over time changes the geography. Sometimes that redirection means taking a sledgehammer to a wall.
I agree that it is easy to cooperate with people when you only care about liking and trusting them. That's how you get social groups and movements that are entirely detached from reality, a bog of stagnant water. If you want a social group to have sensible, actionable beliefs rather than descend into circlejerk, you need the members of your group to be systematically willing to cause offense when it improves the group's ability to interact with the outside world. And for them to be systematically willing, you need to react positively to them doing so. Otherwise, over time, the detritus and resistance builds up in that channel and it clogs up, and the flow becomes stagnant or goes elsewhere.
When you ask me to choose people liking and trusting each other over processing disagreement, you are not opting out of peer pressure. You're simply using (soft) peer pressure to enforce group norms that are about cameraderie rather than beliefs.
I do not consider the application of peer pressure to be outside the scope of good faith argument, otherwise I would not be on this website with its karma system, I would not reply to you when you talk about whether or not people will like me, and in fact I would not be able to communicate with anyone. I don't feel like @solo is an enemy or an unfriend, just someone who needed a wake-up call.
I don't see saying "what the fuck is wrong with you" after someone says something horrendous as abusive. I would personally genuinely appreciate that kind of clarity if I said something that revealed a fucked up underlying attitude, when accompanied with a sensible explanation. It's an emotive way of saying that you're noticing something deeply wrong with someone's worldview, and opens up the talk in that context. And honestly, I doubt you or others on here are unfamiliar with that sort of usage and don't partake in good-faith invectives yourselves on occasion.

But if people are free to leave a community and suffer no consequences for it, and staying in the community does have a consequence - accepting abusive behavior by other community members, for instance - people will leave. It’s normal, it’s understandable, and it inevitably breaks down communities. And that’s why I don’t think the authors’ understanding of community is at all wrong. In the long run everybody finds themselves in situations where they have to submit to their community’s authority in order to remain in the community. And when people leave instead of submitting, that breaks community, and everyone, especially the children, suffer for it.
It is literally arguing for accepting abusive behavior from group authorities for the sake of group cohesion. That is the sort of authority they want parents to have over children and elders over parents. Accept abuse so you don't rock the boat. Stay with abusive parents because they deserve to raise you even if they are abusive. Stay with abusive community leaders because the community deserves to persist so it can abuse more people into the future.
That is not Bakunin.

I am not an admin or a mod. Treating my comment like an acceptable part of the discourse does not mean encouraging (a particular) anarchist orthodoxy, as long as similar discourse is accepted from people with different political leanings. I wouldn't describe myself as orthodox either, I just don't like abusive relationships. It is not my intention or expectation to scare them off, just to get them to re-evaluate deeply held beliefs.

I honestly blame the current unpopularity of the left (the proper left) as a political movement among the general public on this attitude. Being willing to water down your supposedly deeply held philosophical convictions for the sake of appealing to centrists makes it look like the convictions are just a charade, and that any promise you make, no matter how ideologically driven, can be traded off for just a little more influence. As labor parties in the UK, Netherlands, and elsewhere were happy to demonstrate in 1980-2018.
Disagreement without dissolution can be a useful skill when you're making practical decisions under time pressure, such as in a coalition government or a friend group deciding what movie to go to. As a user posting here out of my own urge for politically meaningful conversation, I am not under time pressure. If this thread ended, I would find another. I can disagree without dissolution, it's just not what I'm here for. If you happen to know anywhere that does encourage discussion that seeks to dissolve disagreement, I would love to know about it.
And if you do want this to be a safe haven for liberals, then I wish you luck 7½ years from now when you're asked to please not say that library economies are a fundamental part of solarpunk because it would scare off moderates and reduce AOC's chances in the Democratic primaries. It sounds like conservative hell, but the nuanced position between that and hyper-individualistic self-expression is that as long as said communities aren't coercive and association is voluntary, it's kind of okay.
However one flaw in this take is something like the Amish. Is it ethical for say, Amish or some other community that willingly foregoes the benefits of modern technology to have children, who may find that growing up not surrounded by tech has reduced their development in some ways?
The answer to that one is obvious - to create free facilities and let communities form themselves. Right now youth centres have disappeared, teens are hurried out of any gathering space, play areas are regimented out of any joy or priced to prohibition and you end up with young people being left with the activity options of isolation, or group activities that are antisocial or involve substance abuse

One thing to keep an eye on as far as services is to make sure they're used by all classes of people. In the states there's public housing but it's seen as inferior (and usually is actually inferior). So only the poor use it, which means it has no powerful defenders. And for most people who already own a home, they would never consider getting rid of it to move into public housing.
One advantage of UBI is that everyone gets it, so everyone will have an incentive to defend it. Think about social security - every so often politicians talk about how we might need to cut, but that would be political suicide because of how many people are invested in getting that payout.
Another issue there is that anyone not poor can't use public housing. It's a means-tested program, and if you make too much money, you're unable to use it. You have to be low income.
Most of our stuff is means tested, and not only that - the means test is based on a made up metric from nearly 80 years ago that has never been adequately adjusted to reflect modern healthcare, education, and transportation costs.
In addition, the means testing doesn't have gradual cutoffs, so once you hit the threshold you lose all of your benefits, which is just insane on its face. You don't suddenly stop needing food or housing assistance because you get a ten cent raise. #0 Die Erklärung, dass der bisherige Geschlechtseintrag nicht der persönlichen Identität entspricht. Dies muss „versichert“ werden und kommt einem Eid nahe. Klingt ein bisschen banal, aber Ämter verstehen bei sowas keinen Spass. Deshalb wird bei der Erklärung auch eine Prozedur wie beim Kauf eines Hauses abgehalten; mit vorlesen der Erklärung, Nachfrage, ob das alles verstanden wurde und korrekt ist und dann der Unterschrift. Ab Unterschrift ist das dann für mindestens ein Jahr fest, währenddessen die Änderung durch alle Behörden weitergereicht wird.
#1 Mit dem Eintrag müssen auch die Vornamen neu bestimmt werden. Laut SBGG sollen sie zum neuen Geschlechtseintrag „passen“. Wer zB auf „weiblich“ ändert muss „weibliche“ Vornamen wählen. Selbst für „divers“ und „ohne Eintrag“ sollen die Namen „irgendwie geschlechtsneutral“ sein(2). Die wenigsten Menschen werden daher bei einem Wechsel ihre Namen behalten können. Denke dran, dass du mit der Zeit überall unter deinen neuen Namen geführt werden wirst, wo auch nur entfernt Behörden o.ä. beteiligt sind, oder du dich mit Perso o.ä. identifizieren musst (sogar Post, DHL, usw).
#2 Alle Ausweise und Dokumente sind ab sofort ungültig. Perso, Führerschein, Reisepass, Bankkonten, Bahncard, usw. Alles, was die offizielle Identität enthält. Dein alter Name existiert amtlich nicht mehr und jede Überprüfung kann Probleme erzeugen. Je länger nach der Änderung, desto mehr(3). Jede Unstimmigkeit zwischen früherer und neuer Identität erzeugt Diskussionen, benötigt Erklärungen, Nachweise, Zeit und Probleme. Zum Beispiel bei Polizeikontrollen: Die Abfrage deines alten Perso kann fehlschlagen, als ob er gefälscht wäre. Einen (inzwischen) ungültigen Perso zu benutzen ist eine Ordnungswidrigkeit mit Bussgeld. Dein Deutschland-Ticket, Monatskarte, etc sind personalisiert. Mit neuem Perso müssen die auch geändert werden. Banken und die Finanzaufsicht verstehen keinen Spass bei den Kontodaten: Geldwäschegesetz. Kontostammdaten und alle Karten müssen daher so schnell wie möglich erneuert werden. Es kommt immer wieder vor, dass Kassenpersonal den Namen auf der Karte liest und der Ansicht ist, dass diese Karte nicht dir gehören kann – weil ihrer Ansicht nach Name und Aussehen nicht zusammenpassen. Dann brauchst du auf jeden Fall einen gültigen Perso. Deine Zeugnisse passen auch nicht mehr zum neuen Namen. Falls du sie noch mal brauchst, zum Beispiel für Bewerbungen, solltest du sie umschreiben lassen.
#3 Outing in Job und Firma – und die Rentenversicherung. Deine Firma überweist Steuern und Beiträge an Renten-, Kranken-, und Arbeitslosenversicherung. Dabei muss der gültige amtliche Name verwendet werden – und der Geschlechtseintrag dient vielfach als Prüfmerkmal. Die Personalabteilung deiner Firma muss deshalb den Namen offiziell ändern. Weil Firmen häufig nur einen Namen pro Person pflegen können, heisst das in der Regel auch: Neue Mailadresse, usw. Stelle dich auf ein ziemliches Durcheinander in der Übergangszeit ein. Falls dein alter oder neuer Eintrag „männlich“ war/ist, bekommst du von der Rentenversicherung automatisch eine neue Nummer, die deine Firma auch erfahren muss.
#4 Krankenkasse und Gesundheitssystem. Als Arbeitnehmer*in musst du deine Kasse über den neuen Namen (und Geschlechtseintrag) informieren, sonst gibt es irgendwann Probleme mit den Beiträgen. Du bekommt eine neue Karte – die wiederum zu deinem Perso passen sollte. Auf der Karte steht dein neuer Geschlechtseintrag. In Praxen und Kliniken wird der häufig für die Anrede und die Einsortierung auf Stationen verwendet. Praxis- und Labor-EDV nimmt den Eintrag häufig für Referenztabellen, ob Blutwerte okay sind. Mit einem „X“ für „divers“ oder „ohne Eintrag“ bist du quasi überall Sonderfall. Mit dem Geschlechtseintrag ändern sich auch die Einladungen zu geschlechtsabhängigen Vorsorgeuntersuchungen. Leistungen, die für dein amtliches Geschlecht „nicht vorgesehen“ sind, must du einzeln einfordern. Trans Personen schlagen sich regelmässig mit dem Medizinischen Dienst und von ihm angeforderten Gutachten herum.
#5 Fahrzeuge und (Grund)Eigentum. Eigentum an Fahrzeugen („Brief“) oder Wohnung, Haus, Grundstück, etc. hängt an der amtlichen Identität und müssen also alle umgeschrieben werden. Gerade bei Immobilien guckt der Staat wegen Geldwäsche u.ä. besonders gut hin. Falls du dein Auto offiziell verkaufen möchtest, wird zB ein Autohaus Kfz-Brief und Perso prüfen, ob es tatsächlich dir gehört.
#6 Reisen, Reisepass. Der neue Reisepass enthält – als so ziemlich einziges amtliches Dokument – deinen neuen Geschlechtseintrag. Dies kann bei der „Sichtkontrolle“ an fremden Grenzen zu Irritationen führen, wenn dein Aussehen für die Amtsperson nicht „passt“. Mögliche Folge: Detaillierte Personenkontrolle und damit unkalkulierbare Wartezeiten an Grenzen oder Flughäfen. Mit dem alten Pass zu reisen kann gefährlich sein, wenn an der Grenze die Identität elektronisch abgefragt wird. Übrigens auch, wenn innerhalb des Schengenraums der (alte) Perso im Ausland überprüft wird. Insbesondere trans- und queer-unfreundliche Länder (Russland, Ungarn, Türkei, „naher Osten“) können sehr unangenehm werden, wenn eine Person laut Pass „nach trans aussieht“ oder gar ein „X“ im Pass hat (bei „divers“ oder „ohne Eintrag“). Mit einem „X“ kannst du einige Länder nicht mehr bereisen. Vor allem die Emirate (Dubai, Katar) und Saudi Arabien verbieten ausdrücklich die Einreise mit „X“. Auch Transit / Umstieg dort ist nicht möglich. Bei anderen Ländern wie Indonesien, Ägypten, südliches Afrika, etc gibt es bisher keine offizielle Aussagen. Viele Länder sind jedoch auf das „X“ nicht vorbereitet. Wie Grenzübertritte und Kontrollen dort ablaufen ist deshalb offen.
#7 Ehe und Elternschaft. Falls du verheiratet/verpartnert bist, wird das zuständige Standesamt automatisch informiert. Deine bisherigen Urkunden und Stammbücher sind damit obsolet. Falls du Kinder hast, passen deine neuen Papiere nicht mehr zu deren Geburtsurkunden. Dies kann u.U. Probleme mit Schulen o.ä. erzeugen. Informiere dich am besten vorher bei trans-erfahrenen Beratungstellen, ob du auch da etwas umschreiben möchtest.
#8 Für Menschen, die nicht trans und_oder nichtbinär sind: Was alles nicht funktioniert. Auch wenn du amtlichen Geschlechtseintrag, Vornamen und alle Papiere geändert hast, deine Firma informiert, alle Verträge angepasst: Im zwischenmenschlichen Alltag wird sich dadurch praktisch nichts ändern. Die allermeisten Menschen haben ihren amtlichen Geschlechtseintrag noch nie „beweisen“ müssen und könnten das auch gar nicht. Stattdessen werden wir alle ständig „nach Aussehen“ einsortiert und behandelt. Von dieser Einschätzung und der Einstellung der Leute auf die du triffst wird abhängen, ob du in geschlechtergetrennten Räumen akzeptiert oder rausgeworfen wirst. Dein amtlicher Eintrag, deine neuen Namen und auch deine neuen Papiere werden dir im Zweifelsfall nicht helfen.
Solltest du also vorhaben, das SBGG „einfach so“ zu nutzen, ist mein Tipp: Lass es. Du machst dir selbst viel Arbeit; es wird dich Zeit, Geld und Nerven kosten, und wenn du es nicht wirklich ernst meinst, wirst du dich letztlich als ein Mensch outen, der sich das ganze wirklich nicht gut überlegt hat.
(1) Alle Menschen mit deutscher Staatsangehörigkeit, „Blauer“ EU-Karte oder unbefristetem Aufenthaltstitel. Minderjährige ab 14 und Menschen unter Betreuung mit Zustimmung der Sorgeberechtigten.
(2) Die Praxis ist hier noch nicht ganz klar. Im Gesetz steht dazu nichts genaues, es gibt noch keine Fälle oder Urteile, nur geäusserte Rechtsauffassungen einzelner Verwaltungsstellen, die jedoch keine Weisungskraft haben. Der ausdrückliche Zusammenhang zwischen Eintrag und vermeintlich geschlechtlichem Namen war bisher nicht gegeben, bzw seit dem „Kiran“-Beschluss des BVerfG 2009 quasi aufgehoben. Für nichtbinäre Namen gab und gibt es bisher gar keine Grundlagen.
(3) Der alte Name ist ungültig und damit auch der alte Perso. Eine polizeiliche Abfrage mit dem alten Perso führt zu einem Fehler. Das Standesamt gibt die Änderung automatisch an die Meldebehörde am Wohnort. Die informiert dann das Bundesamt für Steuern, Rentenversicherung, Kraftfahrtbundesamt („Flensburg“), Bundeszentralregister („Führungszeugnis“), usw. Von da aus verbreitet sich die Änderung langsam durch alle Behörden.
Meint: Was trans Personen so an Aufwänden und Widerständen zu bewältigen haben, um einfach nur gemäß der „freien Entfaltung ihrer Persönlichkeit“ nach zu leben. Siehe auch „WelchePrivilegien„.
Entstanden, nachdem eine cis Person sehr verwundert über das Blutspendeverbot für trans (und andere) war. Weitere Beispiele werden gerne genommen.
Für Personenstand, geänderte Vornamen, Papier, etc:
(Alt, abgelöst durch SBGG ab November 2024) Neuer Personenstand und Vorname nur per Gerichtsbeschluss, mit zwei gerichtlich bestellten psychologischen Gutachten (Kosten: 1500-2000€). Dabei ist unter Fachleuten Konsens, dass eine Geschlechtsidentität nicht wirklich getestet oder begutachtet werden kann. Viele Gutachtys „testen“ deshalb eher auf Klischeetreue, sprich: Dass die Person wie eine Klisscheefrau bzw Klischeemann dort aufläuft und die passende Rolle „vortanzt“, inklusive „passender“ Kindheit. Bei nicht-binären gibt es quasi nichts zu begutachten. Wie soll ein Mensch „beweisen“, weder als Mann, noch als Frau zugeordnet werden zu wollen, bzw dass die Zuschreibungen und Klischees psychischen Druck verursachen? Deshalb sind auch kaum Therapeutys oder Gutachtys dafür zu finden und ihre Qualität sehr dürftig. Die Möglichkeit, als nicht-binäre trans Person den Personenstand „divers“ oder „Streichung“ per TSG zu erlangen, ist deshalb bisher eher theoretisch. Auch wenn der BGH dies eigentlich durch ein Urteil in 2020 eröffnet hat.
Alle Kosten und Aufwände für die Änderungen von Konten, Verträgen, Versicherungen, Autos, Führerscheine, Pässe und Ausweise, Zeugnisse. Eigene Grundbucheinträge ändern ist… diffizil.
Beim Wechsel weg von und nach „männlich“ wird eine neue Rentenversicherungsnummer fällig. Darin ist nämlich der amtliche Gendermarker kodiert. Übrigens nach dem Schema „50% für männlich, der Rest für .. den Rest“ (also inkl „divers“ und „ohne Eintrag“)
Name und Anrede bei Firmen, etc. ändern geht auch in unsinnigen Fällen häufig erst mit neuer Geburtsurkunde. Selbst bei Ärztys für die Transition.
Eigentlich dürfen die alten Namen nach Gerichtsbeschluss nicht offenbart werden. Da das Verbot aber nicht strafbewehrt ist, muss im Zweifelsfall zivil auf Schadenersatz / Schmerzensgeld geklagt werden.
Bei der Eheurkunde kann das Standesamt die Änderung einfach ablehnen
Elternschaft bei Paaren mit trans Personen: Absolutes rechtliches Nebelgebiet.
Gebärende trans Männer werden als Mütter eingetragen. usw.
Peronen mit „divers“ können möglicherweise amtlich keine Eltern werden.
Bei Elternschaft innerhalb x Monaten nach Personenstandsänderung kann der Wechsel u.U. zwangsweise rückabgewickelt werden. Nicht vergessen: Das TSG („Transsexuellengesetz“) von 1981 war vor allem als Gesetz zur Verhinderung von Ehen (und Kindern) ausserhalb der cis-hetero-binären Norm gemacht. Immerhin konnten Zwangssterilisation und Zwangsscheidung über das Verfassungsgericht aus dem Gesetzt rausgeklagt werden. Die Gutachtenpflicht ist die letzte wackelige Säule.
Blutspende ist verboten. Trans Personen gelten pauschal als promisk, Sex-Risikogruppe und_oder Sexworker…
Jetzt ggf Zwangsouting bei den Corona Impfnachweisen, weil nur mit – u.U. gar nicht mehr stimmigem – Ausweis gültig
Bestimmte Jobs sind nicht mehr zugänglich. Bis vor kurzem z.B. Polizei und Zoll: Männliche Personen mussten Hoden vorweisen können, um eingestellt zu werden, was transmännliche und bestimmte inter Personen ausschliesst.
Verbeamtung und „sicherheitsrelevante“ Jobs sind u.U gesperrt, weil eine trans Person ja (Zwangs)Psychotherapie hatte.
Schutzräume für Frauen sind auch gerne trans-abweisend.
Für körperliche Angleichungsmassnahmen:
Zwangstherapie. Erst mal 12 Sitzungen Psychotherapie und zwar am Stück von kassenmässig anerkannter Fachperson, bevor die Krankenkasse auch nur irgendwas bewilligt (s. BGA des MDS). Therapieplätze sind kaum zu kriegen, viele trans Personen brauchen keine und belegen damit Ressourcen.
Für viele OPs wollen die Kassen bis zu 18 Monate Therapie für die Bewilligung nachgewiesen haben. Wie gesagt: Am Stück. Therapeuty wechseln o.ä. macht häufig Probleme
Nur wenige Therapeutys sind real für trans qualifiziert. Es gibt keine formale Qualifikation, was gut und schlecht zugleich ist.
Psychologische Indikationen notwendig für alles und zwar einzeln: Hormontherapie, Epilation, genitale Angleichungen, Brust-Aufbau bzw Mastektomie, Logopädie, Hysterektomie, usw.
Alltagstest. Eigentlich abgeschafft, aber einige Therapeutys wollen den immer noch. D.h. 6-12 Monate „100% im Geschlecht leben“ – bevor irgendwelche Massnahmen bewilligt werden, bzw Zwangstherapeuty die Indikation ausstellt. Im Klartext: Coming out von jetzt auf gleich, in Job, Familie, Umfeld, inklusive Kleidung etc., ohne zB Epilation oder Hilfsmittel wie Binder bezahlt zu bekommen.
Für nicht-binäre zahlen Kassen erst mal nix, gemäss ihrer sich selbst gegebenen Richtlinien (BGA des MDS). D.h. es wird pauschal abgelehnt und muss dann einzeln mit Gutachten eingeklagt werden.
Vorsorgeuntersuchungen. Krankenkassen gehen idR nach eingetragenem Gendermarker. Aber einige Menschen haben Brüste und Prostata und_oder Penis und_oder Hoden. Automatisch benachrichtigt wird normalerweise auch nicht.
Die meisten Ärtzys kenenn sich mit trans Anatomie nicht aus, was zu Fehlbehandlungen und Schmerzen führen kann.
Mindestens während der Transition und für nicht-binäre quasi immer:
In öffentlichen, gegenderten Räumen angegriffen oder rausgeworfen werden: Toiletten, Umkleiden, Läden, Schwimmbäder, Saunen, …
Falsche Zuordnung oder Abweisung in Kliniken, bei Polizei und Sicherheitskontrollen.
Aus Sportvereinen rausfliegen und nirgendwo aufgenommen werden
Nicht wenige werden nach Start der Transition unter fadenscheinigen Gründen im Job gekündigt
Wer das Kassensystem umgehen will oder muss (nicht-binär), also selbst zahlen:
Hormon-Umstellung, lebenslang, ca. 500+€/Jahr
Epilation (Gesicht, Körper): 5000-25000€, je nach Behaarung und Haarart/farbe
Personenstand / Vornamen: s.o., ca. 2000€
Genital-OPs je nach Art und Umfang: 10000-25000€. Tw. mehrere Teil-OPs nötig
Brust-OPs je nachdem (Aufbau, Entfernung): 10000-15000€
Auch bei selbstgezahlten OPs und Hormon-Umstellungen wollen die Ärztys idR psychologische Indikationen, die irgendwie realisiert und bezahlt werden müssen
zu anderen Angleichungsmassnahmen habe ich keine Zahlen, also zB Logopädie, Gesichtsform, Stimmbänder, Adamsapfel, usw.
So viel zu „die machen das aus Jux und Tollerei / wegen der Aufmerksamkeit“ usw.
Nein, nur Vornamen ändern geht mit dem SBGG nicht. Das ist ausdrücklich ausgeschlossen. Dazu müsste das NamÄndG genutzt werden, bei dem du Amt bzw Gericht einen „wichtigen Grund“ nennen musst. Nach Erfahrungen aus meinem Umfeld: Einen wirklich sehr sehr wichtigen Grund.
Mit dem SBGG kann nur beim Wechsel zu einem anderen Geschlechtseintrag der/die Vornamen geändert werden, bzw. muss/müssen angepasst werden:
Die (neu bestimmten) Vornamen müssen zum gewählten Geschlechtseintrag „passen“, also (für das Amtsleut) „ausreichend männlich, weiblich oder unisex sein“. Was da akzeptiert wird ist bei Abweichung vom „Standard“ nicht gut vorhersagbar.
Klar ist: Wenn du zu m oder w wechselst, muss mindestens ein Vorname eindeutig sein. Am besten der erste und Rufname. Danach können ggf „uneindeutige“ kommen, aber kein „gegengeschlechtlicher“.
Nein, nur Vornamen ändern geht mit dem SBGG nicht. Das ist ausdrücklich ausgeschlossen. Dazu müsste das NamÄndG genutzt werden, bei dem du Amt bzw Gericht einen „wichtigen Grund“ nennen musst. Nach Erfahrungen aus meinem Umfeld: Einen wirklich sehr sehr wichtigen Grund.

(Ausnahme: Maria ist für m zugelassen, so das Thomas-Maria oder Thomas Maria dem Amtsleut bei divers / ohne Eintrag möglicherweise nicht uneindeutig genug ist)
Einen noch: Per SBGG ist für jede der vier Geschlechtsoptionen nur eine Liste von Vornamen jemals möglich. Wenn wieder zurück gewechselt wird, gelten automatisch auch die alten Vornamen.

Ich habe, um ehrlich zu sein, keine Ahnung, warum ich immer noch bei Twitter bin, und ich glaube, bei Facebook hat damals wesentlich weniger gereicht, um meinen Account zu löschen…
Klar, Twitter war über 17 Jahre lang das soziale Netzwerk meiner Wahl und hatte über lange Zeit hinweg wenig bis keine Konkurrenz! Ich habe viele spannende und inspirierende Menschen kennengelernt. Twitter hat mir geholfen, mich mit der deutschen Web2.0-Community zu vernetzen. Barcamps und Webmontage wurden über Twitter organisiert und diskutiert. Außerdem verdanke ich Twitter wohl auch meinen aktuellen Traum-Job bei Automattic!
Aber das alleine hat mich die letzten zwei Jahre nicht auf Twitter gehalten. Die Menschen, die mir wichtig sind (inklusive mir), sind weitergezogen und haben das Fediverse für sich entdeckt. Ein besseres Job-Angebot als das von Automattic ist aktuell eher unwahrscheinlich (😍) und wenn es hochkommt, schaue ich maximal alle zwei Wochen bei Twitter vorbei, und seit Monaten nutze ich schon keine Twitter-Apps mehr auf meinem Handy oder Computer.
Das was mich hält, kann also nur Nostalgie und die Romantisierung der „guten alten Zeit“ auf Twitter sein!?!
Nur fair, wenn ich jetzt auch umsetze, was ich da so von mir gebe!

Restrictive Programing. For these, the programs refuse to let you fix your own products (a large example of this happens to farm equipment, where farmers have to hack their own equipment if they want to repair on their own).
Repair cafes are typically community-run events where volunteers gather to fix the broken items of strangers for free. My town started doing it a long time ago, and it was so popular that it now happens several times a year.
People bring in stand mixers, vacuums, computers, items that need sewing repairs, and more. Often, the person is very willing to explain the repairs as they do them.
In other places, repair cafes have become more permanent. For example, in Austria, the government started paying those who repair.
Repair cafes not only save people money, but they also can greatly reduce the amount of waste produced by saving those repaired items from the landfill.

I imagine it depends on the repair cafe. But where I go we just have generic consumables, e.g fabric, thread, solder, glue, batteries (most volunteer provided, some in common). No so much specific parts - fixers will help determine what part is needed and where it can be found, if possible and feasible.
It always blows my mind that we’re such a car centric hellhole but when I was in college living in an apartment I’d have to sneak to work on my car because there wasn’t any DIY garages and it was against lease terms to work on cars on the property.
I’d have to wait until 5/6 at night right before it got dark and rush to change my oil or brakes before it got too dark to see.
These days I give my younger coworkers the pin and 24/7 access to my garages if they want to work on their cars or any projects really.

PSA: After some discussions and brainstorming (and calculations), and double-checking with the artist ( @thatfrisiangirlish ), I have decided to make the following offer to the community here on Fedi:
I will get these designs printed as flags, size 150x90cm (~5x3ft). The material is Velum, light shines through. The quality is such that you could leave it outside for about 6-12 months under normal weather. It is NOT fire-resistant or fire-safe.
Please check out the photo (1) I have attached on how it looks like. You can also see the seams and hooks (photos 2-4). They are strong.
This is all Made in Germany.
I will wait if I can get enough interest to be able to order about 100 of these (in variations), otherwise it would be too costly. Please note that ordering 100 means that I have to pre-pay them all, that's a lot of money - but I'm willing to do this, because these flags are absolutely amazing.
Current estimate is that each one would then be available for EUR 25 + Postage.

Some of you have received a progress pride version and can say how beautiful it is.
The difference of what I pay for the flags and what you pay (25 EUR) will be 100% sent to the artist. I have no interest in making any profit off of it, but I have the printer at hand and know how to handle it. And I think, artists should always get paid for their work, because these flags are just too beautiful to not share.
Also, a single print would cost about 50 Euro. If I can aggregate so many, I can bring the price down enough that anyone can afford it.
Here is another offer: if you can afford more than 25 EUR for a single flag, I’ll take anything above it to pay for someone who can’t afford it at all. The progress narrative is the pervasive idea within our culture that technological innovation, markets, and our institutions of scientific research and education enable and promote a general improvement in human life. This article questions the accuracy, incentives, and risks of this narrative, examining the reasons that the idea has held such a central role in shaping the development of our global civilization. In doing so, it attempts to outline the progress narrative earnestly and clearly, noting that it is often driven by an honest desire to see positive change in the world. The intention is not to point the finger of blame, or to deconstruct for the sake of argument. It is to inform a way forward and outline a path ahead toward potential solutions.

The externalities of this innovation have had far-reaching consequences for human health and the wider biosphere. Our idea of progress needs to mature. If humanity is to survive and thrive into the distant future, we must transform and elevate the very idea of progress into something truly good and worthy of our shared pursuit and aspiration. As we understand more about the universe and find new ways of changing it with our technologies, we must account for the endless ripple of cause-and-effect beyond our immediate goals. We must factor both the upsides and the downsides that will continue to impact reality long after the technologists of today are gone.
For our idea of progress to be mature, it must take account of its side effects and plan to resolve them in advance—it must internalize its externalities. In the second part of this article, four specific methods for internalizing externalities are outlined, alongside some clear examples of what such a process might entail.

Yes! That's precisely what this is from. Trying to outgovernment the government in order to get adopted by the government is such a clever idea and I hope this happens in more countries.
A very cool methode to bridge gaps. There is the problem, that it can result in a middle way, where that should not exist (eg. Human rights are non negotiable, so decisions which do not grant these should be excluded from the discussion. There can be no middle ground in this). It does have the advantage of not creating a polarised field with breaches for anger/ridicule engagement.

It helps to explain, but the reality of what these things can (potentially, not sure about this particular implementation) do is to really find across the thousands of dimensions of the debate space, statements that may help you bridge groups.

They are unlikely to agree on statements like "ethnicity X are subhumans" (strong reject by A) and even a middle ground in the form "citizen of ethnicity X should have slightly less rights" is going to be (understandably) rejected by A. The idea is not to find a middle ground on strong disagreements but to find nuggets of agreements in their views from which conversations can started. Statements like "Police should obey the law of the country" is maybe not going to be enthusiastically endorsed by A and B but is a possible ground for agreement.

One of the most positive effect is that both groups can be genuinely surprised by some of the other group opinions. B may not realize that A actually agrees on some anti-smuggling measures and A may not realize that B actually strongly approves of preserving native American rights. Reasons may diverge, implementations diverge, but fishing for agreements is a precious tool in order to mend societies.

If this is true it's likely still from programmer error at some level, but maybe not as simple as "whoopsie I forgot an if (data == nullptr) teehee".

It turns out that C++, the language crowdstrike is using, likes to use address 0x0 as a special value to mean "there's nothing here", don't try to access it or you'll die.
This thread is full of these sorts of small technical inaccuracies and oversimplifications so I won't point out all of them, but nothing in the C++ standard requires null pointers to refer to memory address 0x0. Nor does it require that dereferencing a null pointer terminates the program.
Windows died not because C++ asked it nicely to, but because a driver tried to access an address which wasn't paged in.
Crowdstrike should have set up automated testing using address sanitizer and thread sanitizer that runs on every code update.
The funny thing about accessing into non-paged memory in kernel space:
It will crash regardless of if it's running under Asan or not, sanitizers are literally irrelevant based on what we know so far
The Asan version he linked to is for user-space. In the windows kernel you'd need KASAN instead.
(If this was a simple nullptr dereference on bad input data then perhaps a fuzzer would have helped. Fuzzers are great though I have no idea how hard they are to use with kernel drivers)

The .sys files causing the issue are channel update files, they cause the top level CS driver to crash as they're invalidly formatted. It's unclear how/why Crowdstrike delivered the files and I'd pause all Crowdstrikes updates temporarily until they can explain.
This is going to turn out to be the biggest 'cyber' incident ever in terms of impact, just a spoiler, as recovery is so difficult.
Also, and this shouldn't be left unsaid, we're talking about the Windows kernel here. A place with C++ code so cursed it is legendarily unhealthy to work in, as the cosmic horrors contained within slowly eat away at your sanity and warp the perception of time and space. Seeing that code for a few hours is enough to make a grown man cry. Seeing that code for a few weeks is enough to make you never cry again, as the terrible truth worms its way into your mind.
"DEI hire", hah! The creature makes no distinction for race or gender as it fattens itself upon your failure! Even a glimpse at the edge of its abyss is enough to trigger a cycle of revelation - all modern software lies upon a rotting pile of ancient mistakes.

The post Xitter web has spawned soo many “esoteric” right wing freaks, but there’s no appropriate sneer-space for them. I’m talking redscare-ish, reality challenged “culture critics” who write about everything but understand nothing. I’m talking about reply-guys who make the same 6 tweets about the same 3 subjects. They’re inescapable at this point, yet I don’t see them mocked (as much as they should be)
Like, there was one dude a while back who insisted that women couldn’t be surgeons because they didn’t believe in the moon or in stars? I think each and every one of these guys is uniquely fucked up and if I can’t escape them, I would love to sneer at them.

It part of the protesting movement against the megabassine in what protesters call now the "water war". The objective of this particular protest was to block the port of the city of La Rochelle which is considered by protester to enable the owner of the megabassine to do the business that require such a big use of water. Yeah, fits very well imo. Then there's a few mods like Botania, Mystical Agriculture, and Immersive Engineering That really bring out the technological aspect of it.

I was searching for the "definitive" solarpunk work and came across this as a recommendation to someone else. I'm not sure it fits the bill, but it's an interesting read nonetheless.
The Monk and Robot books by Becky Chambers take place in a very solar punk setting where significant rewilding has taken place. The main character is a travelling tea monk (you don’t need to know what that is) who travels with what is called an ox-bike. Essentially the setup is an e-bike-driven lightweight campervan or possibly wagon. My impression from the book is that the front bike does not detach from the back.
I’ve done some literal back of the envelope calculations and I think it would be possible to make something like that in real life with our current technology. But I’ve not been able to find any prior art, except for the Wide path bicycle camper, which is more like a trailer than a campervan. My guess is you could improve on the if you made the bike built in, not least because it’s easier to stop without the damned bike falling over.
Have you ever heard of or seen anyone make something like this? Do you think it could work?
Ooooooh! That sounds awesome! The fact that it was bear proof in the books, as well as being light enough to be pulled by an e bike makes me think carbon fiber and/or aluminum. Makes me wanna do some design mockups with rough sizing and structural estimates. Not artistic enough to do any of the murals on the sides with the gods but it would be fun to try to do structural theorizing.
(Not an engineer, i just like thinking through problems like this)
I’m not too concerned about bears since they’re very uncommon where I live (Northern Europe), but I was thinking fibreglass or possibly some special plywood with aluminium frame. I actually did some calculations on the weight of a frame and it’s pretty ok even with steel bars, especially if they’re hollow.
But that's a trailer. It sounds like you're describing something closer to a Bicycle Rickshaw, possibly on a tricycle frame.
You could even do a recumbent bike:
It seems like either could be enclosed using techniques learned from popup campers for a fairly comfortable living space.
(I think a lot about all the crazy contraptions people would make if the roads weren't exclusively the domain of giant trucks and SUVs, and if cargo bikes didn't have to fit themselves into narrow bike lanes and roadsides. I think people would come up with some really cool and weird stuff. Add solar panels and ebike parts, and they'd get really interesting.)
I'm pretty sure there is a part where they talk about the bike as separate from the wagon. Ah, here's the quote: "Mosscap nodded at the wagon trailing dutifully behind Dex’s ox-bike."

I'd be surprised if this installation generated anything useful at all, since shading any part of a single panel essentially disables the whole panel, which in turn, especially in small setups like this, affects the whole array of panels.
It's fascinating to see the difference in reaction in the post here, vs. the post it links to where they're saying exactly the same thing that you and I are saying.
Yea bypass diodes help a little, (and they have existed for a very long time, nothing to do with “modern” panels), but any shade effectively shuts down the entire panel, and unless the charge controller is happy with much lower voltage, the whole series string will stop producing.
