Absolutely those systems are going to be piping selfie data around. Depending on which vendor(s) they get piped to the whole thing is going to be a gigantic mess (and one that may not require much effort to bypass). Hopefully some of the data privacy laws limit the amount of data they're able to accumulate, but it sure does feel like companies love to skirt those regulations.
Question: selfie verification was the best option they had? I remember bypassing a selfie verification system a long time ago: it was implemented using JavaScript, client-side code, you should never trust code on the client! I just disabled the camera verification code and throw up a virtual camera.

Sometimes I wonder what using PHP is like these days. I wrote a lot of PHP code between 2007 and 2015 but pretty much none since. The last PHP version I really knew well was 5.6 so I have never used any of the new features in 7 and 8.
Is the overall coding style still so very Java-inspired?
Is type coercion still the deathtrap it used to be?
frameworks and tools are a bit more capable, the namespace syntax is still an abomination, you run things through fcgi/fpm these days.
For quick turnaround and small scripts I still think there's nothing that gets good results faster. But I personally don't like the big frameworks (symphony for example) too much, they lose most of the benefit of PHP while not being as good at the other shit as comparable solutions in other languages
I am watching a documentary about a romance #scam ("Hey beautiful - Anatomy of a Romance Scam"), not the first one I have watched. A thing that is hard to understand for me how people start to trust these scammers, though they have never met them in person. On the other hand, apparently the scammer somehow faked some video-chats and seemed credible enough.
I also thought about some online acquaintances I have. I consider some of them friends though I have never met them in person. Of course, a romance scam is based not on friendship but on romance, which surely makes it harder to get out of there. I'd definitely run if an online acquaintance started to ask me for a lot of money. That's just a huge red flag. 2/2

Mich stört die Symbolpolitik. Aber besonders gefährliche Straftäter abzschieben, halte ich - mit Ausnahmen - für grundsätzlich richtig. Das Non-Refoulment-Prinzip sieht in gefährlichen Fällen auch Ausnahmen vor.
Und mit der Anerkennung der Talibanregierung. Erinnert mich an die Weigerung in der BRD die DDR anzuerkennen. Das ändert nichts daran, dass die Taliban de facto die Macht haben. Sonst wünsche ich mir einen diplomatischen Abbruch mit dem Iran.
In dem ihr von "Islamisten" schreibt und nicht von "Terroristen" spielt ihr das spiel der Union mit. So verharmlost ihr die Taliban. Nicht jeder Islamist ist automatisch auch ein Terrorist aber jeder Taliban ist definitiv ein Terrorist 🤷♀️
und man sollte immer daran erinnern, dass der #AfghanistanKrieg ein völkerrechtswidriger Angriffskrieg war. Und das nicht Afghanistan die Anschläge am 11. September begangen hatte. Dennoch investierte Deutschland 20 Jahre und vernachlässigte die eigene Landesverteidigung, um "Deutschland am Hindukusch zu verteidigen". Nur um dann Hals über Kopf das Land zu verlassen und alle Helfer:innen im Stich zu lassen, entgegen eigener Versicherungen. Das ist alles nur schäbig!
