🎥 Watch | Gaza Relief Coordinator Eyad Amawi from Deir al-Balah:

“We have more than 84 camps here—over 180,000 people relying on desalinated water... I can’t imagine how we’ll stay alive tomorrow or the day after.”

Amawi tells Drop Site that the EU pledged last week to power the Southern Gaza Desalination Plant—a critical water source for hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians in central and southern Gaza.

But seven days after EU Foreign Affairs Chief Kaja Kallas smiled for cameras and touted the deal, Amawi says:
“There’s been no tangible difference on the ground.”

In a July 10 statement, Kallas confirmed a new EU–Israel agreement:

- Substantially more trucks of food and non‑food items
- Opening several new crossings and aid routes via Jordan and Egypt
- Resumption of fuel deliveries to aid facilities
- Repair of vital infrastructure, including restoring power to the water desalination facility in Deir al‑Balah
