Weiß ein oder eine gut informierte/r Talkshowmasty vielleicht ein paar Zahlen aus dem Kopf?
Mich würde interessieren, wie viel klimawandelbedingte Opfer gab es letztes Jahr in Deutschland? Oder wie viel Verkehrstote wurden (nicht?) beklagt? Und wie viel Opfer von Terror gab es?
Nicht dass Menschen Opferzahlen gegeneinander aufwiegen sollten aber seriöse Berichterstattung und Politik würden mir besser gefallen, wenn tatsächliche Verhältnisse aus "der Welt um uns herum" Berücksichtigung finden würden. Bei diesen Zahlen - bei der zweifelsohne jede einzelne für sich ein tragisches Einzelschicksal darstellt - geht's nicht Mal um Meinungen, nein, das sind abzählbare und gut abschätzbare Fakten.
Für Terror gilt #VisionZero. Sonst etwa nicht?

@progressist Ja, wie gesagt, dass ist ein bisschen Arbeit, aber sollte es uns doch wert sein. Und klar ist auch, dass jeder mit seinen Kräften/Ressourcen haushalten muss, sonst hat keine/r was davon.

Für jemand, der sich per Eigenbeschreibung als "links-grün-progessiv" sieht, finde ich das eine seltsame Antwort. Tja, was muss man "alles noch leisten" für ein bisschen Teilhabe an Austausch in sozialen Medien?

Vielleicht müssen die nächsten Demos nicht vor irgendwelche nachts leeren Parteizentralen sondern zum Aufnahmezeitpunkt der Polit-Talkshows durch die entsprechenden TV-Studios führen.
Optimalerweise nicht in Form von irgendwelchen als „nervig“ empfundener Störung, sondern mit witzigen, intelligent gemachten Aktionen…

Storing all media and data on the internet is extremely fragile and dangerous. If we were back in the days when things were published on books and on magtape, we wouldn't be losing all this info.
And yes, people can and should mirror data. But fundamentally, the internet is ephemeral. If we had a Carrington Event tomorrow, or even just all the undersea cables were cut, we'd have chaos. And it could last for decades. fediscience.org/@petergleick/1…

I don't see how Musk can operate in his current role without Senate confirmation. The appointments clause requires any principal officer of the United States (who exercises "significant authority") to be confirmed first. And if locking agency heads out of their own systems isn't "significant authority", I don't know what could be.
Sigh.
Observing from the outside, it's been driving me nuts, too. The USA has constitutional law, statute law, regulations, procedures, norms against so much of what your new administration has been doing for the last two weeks.
And ... no one's doing anything about it. You may as well not have any prohibitions on any of it at all -- if you don't enforce the laws, they're not laws. If a tree falls in the forest, etc, etc.
Musk's monkeying with the money machinery is just the latest example - clearly exceeding any legal authority he might have, and ... crickets. The Democrats aren't even making a peep about most of this stuff.
Between the "stupid evil" nature of the threat and the existing systems, I thought that it would at least slow them down some, but it's like no one's even trying. I'm no longer confident that any significant remnant of the US experiment will exist in four years.

Does anyone know if there is such a thing as an inverse USB condom for USB-C Thunderbolt? I mean a power blocker that's only letting data pass but not power? Asking for a combination of a display with always-on power delivery and a computer which is a bit too picky about that leading to black screen only.
