Just replied to #SocialHub discussion to @evanprodromou #FEP on #fediverse support for long-form text.

There's a broader discussion that the #ActivityPub dev community isn't really addressing.

Nowhere in the #W3C specs is defined that #Microblogging is the foundation of #SocialNetworking. And certainly not #Mastodon's app-specific interpretation of this domain.

The entire AS extension mechanism is overlooked, and that leads to a massive ⚒️ Golden Hammer anti-pattern.

Thank you for this! I’ve often said that ActivityPub would be absolutely fantastic for sharing longer form articles, but I don’t know why everybody is so keen on microblogging because I think that’s the most unattractive of activitypub is all the focus on micro blogging and short form stuff.

The versatility of the Linked Data standards that AS/AP is based on is such that specific data models for any social networking use case can be defined.

While LD is suited as storage format for the social / knowledge graph, it is not out-of-the-box a good fit for the AS/AP extension mechanism.

Using closed-world models based on strategic design (part of domain-driven design) would be best to define the interoperable msg exchange patterns that occur between actors.
