Wenn Wagenknecht im Kontext der Migrationsdebatte von einem "massiven Anstieg" der Gewaltkriminalität spricht, dann entsteht natürlich in den Köpfen erst einmal das Bild, dass es in Deutschland noch nie so schlimm war und dass die Zugewanderten dafür verantwortlich sind.
Das ist genau der rechte Populismus der "das Volk" auf die Palme treiben soll.

One of the most popular memes when it comes to talking about the tech sector is Alex Blechman’s tweet about the Torment Nexus: One can interpret the tweet in a bunch of ways.tante (Smashing Frames)
The reasons for this are entirely social. There are two, IMHO:
1. In a tech company, what you describe is the job of a Product Manager. (The PM says *what* to build, the TL says *how* to build it.) Open source projects typically don't have product managers that are not also engineers. For some people, the lack of someone telling you what to might even be the main benefit of doing open source!
Open source platforms (like mastodon and pixelfed) lack the evil stuff that commercial platforms have, such as:
* requiring an account to view content
* suppressing links that point outside the platform ("walled garden")
* algorithmic amplification of hate-content
* user tracking / surveillance / "user as a product"
all this alone makes open source platforms different and inherently better than commercial ones.

Any recommendations for habit gamification apps? I used to use Habitica but it became too old hat to motivate me anymore; lately I've been using TaskHero, but the devs have been revamping the design in ways that make it grindier and less rewarding, and so I'm thinking of jumping ship.
I don't need a lot of bells and whistles, but colorful graphics and a shred of storyline (e.g. quests, maybe an NPC or two) help to keep me engaged. Fantasy genre is a plus.
