I rarely model or sculpt stuff, but each time I'm surprised how easy it is and how fast I get a result (today a little monkey's head because I need a guide for animation).
In books and movies. My empathy drags me completely into these settings. And I don't have the spoons to pull myself out again into reality. And I do absolutely do not enjoy this type of stories. So no good time while watching and not afterwards. So why should I watch it? "I saw the TV glow" weighed on me for nearly two weeks after watching.
This emotional sensitivity shit was there all my life. I remember that I was not able to watch episodes of Lassie (yes, I'm that old) or other shows where animals had "adventures", because I suffered so much while watching.
@luce I know I often got told "but it will have a happy end". This doesn't help me if I get emotionally destroyed in the middle part. It seems most people see these parts as an enjoyable climax.
Some time ago I saw a video by Willow Heath, where she explained how she enjoys horror from the safe place of her armchair. And I thought: I don't have that perspective, I'm literally drowning in the horror.
A short time ago she posted a video where she explained that the focus on horror was bad for her mental health and that she will focus on more enjoyable stuff in the future. And I felt a lot of compassion, because wading through this dark valley must have been awful.
