A: nope, absolutely not.
I'm trad published by the likes of Tor and Orbit (and previously Ace). They have design departments and experience I can't touch. I'm not a visual artist and I know it. 90% of the time they can do better (let's not talk about the 10%, though!)
I *do* get asked my opinions on aspects of cover design, art, blurbs, and so on. That's enough.
