The problem with rolling out public CCTV to "stop crime" is that it can only detect crimes that have already happened (it's not a preventative).
Similarly, the problem with representative democracy is that "vote the bums out" only works AFTER several years of misrule/criminal malfeasance in office.
Right now Project 2025 is in the driving seat in the USA and *if they don't change the rules under you* you'll get another vote after two years of it.
CCTV can record the criminal act of destroying all the CCTV cameras. Then it’s useless.
Voting the bums out works right up to the point where the bums sufficiently dismantle, sabotage, rig and corrupt the means of voting.
Then it’s too late.
To be fair, at least representative democracies actually _have_ a process for "getting rid of the bums". In theory, at least.
Looking at old German folk tales, all the peasants of earlier centuries had were gruesome revenge fantasies where the Devil inflicted gruesome tortures on wicked nobles - because the peasants knew very well that there was nothing they themselves could plausibly do in order to get rid of them.

You're looking in the wrong direction: it takes a minimum of months, more often a year, to write a novel—then another year for production/publication after it's finished. (Self-publishing can operate faster but it's still multiple months *or* there will be typos/production problems/poor editing all over the place.)
Also, who's the market for it? Because it sounds mostly viable as a MAGA fan service technothriller (or Canadian-market only).
