OK, hit me with your favourite open source tools for making academic-style posters. Honestly I'm tempted to go back to LaTeX for this: stating a layout declaratively rather than trying to design it visually tends to lead to less-ugly designs for me. Being able to let tikz do the same for diagram layout is nice too.

Mastodon is an incredibly inspirational space. And thought-provoking. Which is good and bad.
It's certainly good to be inspired, do my own introspection etc.
But the downside is that I'm best at thinking while I'm writing. So I have this impulse to post my own viewpoints on something.
And then I often stop. Because I agree mostly with someone else, which would make my take sound like I'm imitating or parroting them. Or my view or experience is different and then I sound like I'm contradicting them.
This inhibition mechanism even works when I'm *not* replying. Because I assume they are going to read it.
In addition I sometimes fear I will trigger someone, as I've told I did in the past. And causing harm is the absolutely fucking least thing I want to do.
