Anyone own or played an actual Magnavox Odyssey (the first home video games console)?
I have questions about when you hold down the reset button on a controller (what happens and if the cards change behaviour) and also about the momentum/dampening effects that happen on the ball.

Hey, so, we all know weather is going to get more dangerous over the next few years. Also, the USA weather services are probably not going to be operating at their best (to be optimistic). I know there are other sources, but the whole of the world society feels like it is on the edge of darkness. So...
Proposal/question: using the plethora of easily accessible data, compute, and brilliant people; how could we form a federated and decentralized weather service?
I imagine it would require some standardized protocols and modeling teams. Similar things do exist for other areas of research. However, I am an ecological modeler and know very little relevant information beyond using climate models. I am not completely sure what is needed for weather. Thoughts or ideas? Or is anyone even interested in this?

In 2013 the top 2,000 firms spending money on Research & Development included:
118 from the UK; 668 for the USA; & 119 from China....
a decade later: in the top 2,000;
63 from the UK (just above half); 681 from the USA (a small increase); and 524 from China (over four times as many).
From which we might conclude that part of the UK's economic doldrums stem from a declining interest in R&D, perhaps because UK managers are too busy feathering their own nests?

In Niedersachsen hat sich die Zahl der Menschen, die beispielsweise in einer Wohnungslosenunterkunft schlafen müssen, innerhalb von zwei Jahren etwa verdreifacht. Dafür gibt es vor allem zwei Gründe.NDR
Enteignen:
Bei mehr als 5-10 Mietwohnungen kann man nicht mehr von einer Nebeneinkunft aus üblichen Lebensumständen (Erbschaft unter Geschwistern teilen) oder einer Altersvorsorge reden.
Man kann durch eigens erbrachte Arbeit in seinem Leben kaum mehr als 10 Wohnungen abkaufen, weder als Ingenieur noch als Chefarzt.
Dieser hohe Kapitalgewinn basiert auf vorherigem Kapitalgewinn. Eine Rechtfertigung in sich selbst, welche ab einer gewissen Größe durch Diversifikation kaum noch Risiko birgt
