The paracommons and parapractices of mesh networks – interdependent communities and embodied gestures

Beyond verbal communication and relational interdependence, Enoki Meshroom reclaims and relearns technologies as locally situated and embodied movements of resistance. With every enoki mesh device, the local parastructure – and thereby paracommons – grows and finds new mycelic parapractices to move fragile or meshi information in-between more-than-one and beyond normative networks.

This hands-on workshop introduces participants to mesh networks through the Meshtastic protocol, combining practical device exploration with a location-based LARP on the Tempelhofer Feld. The session begins with an introduction to the Meshtastic protocol, hardware, and other mesh systems. We then continue outdoors, using Meshtastic devices to navigate through an algae wetland and wasteland to our final destination. Participants will discover how mesh networks function in real-world scenarios while engaging through speculative gameplay. The event also introduces our Meshtastic device sharing and borrowing system. Participants are welcome to bring their own Meshtastic devices if available, though no prior knowledge is required. Weather dependant clothing is recommended.

Enoki Meshroom is the first in a culminating series of Networks of Mutual Aid (NOMA) launch events of the 2025 Wyvern Art Fund Scholarship program which has brought together eight artists and thinkers over four-months to explore possible designs for inter-community (counter-)infrastructures. Access Information: Networks of Mutual Aid (NOMA) presents relaxed launch events for experimental meeting, sharing and practicing. Drop in and out anytime. Some events have specific start times but late arrival is fine. Breaks included in relaxed schedules, plus take breaks as needed. Move around freely; sitting still is optional. Bring support humans, buddies, items or fidgets.

English is the primary language. Ask questions anytime if communication is unclear – we'll clarify terms, vocabulary, concepts and speak at an easy pace. No sign language available but whisper translations possible.

No ID required. Free entry.

Ich verstehe das Problem nicht. Inzwischen sollte jedem klar sein, dass niemand etwas verschenkt und worum es generell bei solchen Apps geht. Es wird sich äußerst gerne im Softwarebereich darüber gewundert, wie auf einmal AGBs dann doch Anwendung finden. Ja, unglaublich... ok. Jeder kann selbst für sich entscheiden, für wie kritisch er seine eigenen Daten einstufen möchte und dann eine Wahl treffen. Wohin soll das jetzt führen? Dann gibt's eben keine Vergünstigungen mehr, für alle.
