I feel there’s a Fields Medal just going unclaimed for the person who works out how all telecommunications companies manage to be below average. This should not be possible.

Suppose you took the Star Wars prequels, and kept all the visuals, characters, scenes, everything, but had someone come in and write good dialog. Like, expressing the same actions and sentiments, but not terrible. How much better do the films get?

Protest is becoming a crime in Trump's America, and so is journalism about protests.

I keep wondering when the "mainstream" press will realize that neutrality on democracy's survival -- a precondition for a free press -- is contributing to democracy's death.

Thanks to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, businesses will no longer be able to deduct free office snacks, beverages or on-site launches starting in 2026.

I’m not a betting man but in this economy, I can imagine big tech beginning to charge for what’ve been historically free lunches.

We used to have a someone at work who had a tea on a donation basis. If he got enough donations, there was free cake.
And someone else was running a snack and beverage service out of their cubicle.
Eventually the company running the cafeteria complained because they were being undercut.

Seen that happen in the past as well. Local and state governments do that as well or their vendors and suppliers.

Well, I've very low expectations of any of you to read my next piece! The draft is now over 5,000 words and growing, but I've decided it's just going to be what it is. I can always break it into smaller blogs in the future, but at least it will exist somewhere. And that's all okay🙂

Very similar pattern in Australia. Meteorologists can tell us there will be extreme weather, but not exactly where it will dump the most rain, and just an hour of heavy falls can devastate a small town, especially if it includes giant hail.

I’m thinking about creating an audiobook that comes in the form of nonsensical short tracks that can be shuffled to tell a different story each time.

Kelly expanded her arms like a flying squirrel and whispered...

"Who wants to get slimy?"

Bruce climbed out of his bunker and exclaimed...

"Cuddle party starts at noon!"

Gwendolyn retorted with an emphatic sigh...

"Sloppy papa on deck!"

I’m no political strategist but if Trump wants to distract us from the Epstein Files, he could try fully funding NIH, EPA, NASA, NOAA, NSF, USDA, USGS, etc. We’d be so shocked that we won’t stop talking about it for months.
