@tiefpunkt mit Metallgehäuse, Taptic Engine und besserer UI wäre das was, ja. Flüssiges Cover Flow auf nem ESP32 geht sicherlich, braucht aber sicherlich gute Coding Skills. Ich mag den ESP32 als Platform nicht so wirklich, weil ich zu oft das esp-idf in der Hand hielt, aber Deep Sleep sollte der wie ein iPod beherrschen.
Scrolling through lists is extremely sticky and glitchy. It is nearly unusable. It gets stuck and I get haptic feedback but the bar never moves then suddenly will skip the list and reappear back at the top.

One of these is a car that drives on the road and thus obviously isn't allowed to ride on the bike lane. The other is technically a bicycle under EU regulations that in my opinion should not be allowed on the bike lane but is.
Let's be clear. This is a car. Four wheels. It weighs 225 kg empty and you can add up to 200 kg of cargo. That's not an electric bike, as the manufacturer claims it is. This is a small car that occupies and blocks the bike lane. This concept shouldn't exist. Us cyclists already have to deal with bad infrastructure. I see this as a provocation, not as the positive change it pretends to be. Such vehicles belong on the road, not the bike lane.
I’m conflicted. I want more bike lanes and smaller, more efficient delivery vehicles where they make sense.
Could sharing the lanes help some cities justify expanding bike infrastructure? Could use for deliveries have limited off-peak hours the same as big trucks in cities?

A long time ago, I moderated content: offensive/non-offensive. What I learned is that drawing the line is extremely difficult. Especially when someone is trying to get as close to that line as possible from the right side.
I mean, I get it. With streets being congested by ever bigger SUVs, delivery trucks, companies are looking at, what they consider to be, mostly empty bike lanes as an extension of their network. Combined with some feel good marketing on zero emissions and fitness for the drivers. But where will they park these things? Yep. On the sidewalk or in the middle of the bike lane. Is having up to 500+ kg of moving mass safe? On vehicles that need no insurance, no drivers license? What do you think?
Sure, cargo bikes blocking the bike lane take less space than a delivery truck, but still, this is not progress, in my opinion. Our infrastructure isn't prepared for this. Let's fix that ASAP (As Soon As Possible).
And to be very clear, I am all for decarbonising and downscaling delivery. I am all for exploring new, innovative approaches. But simply moving more and more commercial vehicles to the bike lane seems a bit shortsighted. We must do better. Reduce speed in cities to 30 km/h and these vehicles can use the car lanes, for example.
I can get behind both more, wider cycle lanes and a general 30 km/h in-city speed limit. Lets not police who uses public infrastructure, but how it is used. @jwildeboer
I like them, because I assume they are way more efficient than big trucks. However, they shouldn't be allowed to block a bike lane (just as bikes or scooters shouldn't). We currently have a problem with where to put delivery vehicles in general, but the few times I have seen the "bike trucks", they have blocked me way less. Even if they park on a foot path, they are a lot easier to walk around and you feel safer and more seen around them.
If home delivery is expected to stay with us, we need spots where delivery vehicles can stay, independent of them being a truck or a "bike". And hopefully we can get better bike lanes for everyone, that make it possible to drive next to each other and chat. I'm a bit concerned that limiting such vehicles will also limit me, when I use my bike to move to my new flat or renovate and need to drive construction materials back and forth.
Indeed, we love bicycles not because they fit into a bike lane, but because they are light, slow, quiet, manageable, accessible, can be easily and densely parked, do not block the view.. And all sort of other important qualities.
Making it all about the width of the car and a maximum speed is missing the point.
A question I pondered: Suppose I am a car driver and I want to overtake such a vehicle. In the case of a vehicle that is a bicycle, I must ensure that I keep a 2m side distance (in Germany at least), but not in the case of a vehicle that is not a bicycle. But what if I cannot tell from the outside whether the vehicle I want to overtake is a bicycle or not?
@deepbluev7 There are still people the do not have "electronic IDs" suitable for fetching packages from automated hubs. People that do have mobile phones that are not smartphones. People who - for good reasons - refuse all that tracking stuff.
I work from home, and still I have configured a permanent redirection for my DHL packages to a Packstation. Doesn't work for everything. Doesn't work for books put into a padded envelope - not a package... Looks like some regulations should be modernized too.
Certainly. I work from home and recently got a letter, that my package couldn't be delivered to me, since my address does not exist... in my mailbox! And several items, that told me I absolutely need to be present to receive them, on my mailbox publicly viewable and reachable from the street.
I just think that delivery to every individual for every item can not really scale and our infrastructure isn't built for it. We can change our infrastructure or change the problem (or forbid it entirely) and from those options, I think changing the problem by delivering to hubs would be the most efficient. We have electronic IDs now, that we need to fetch packages anyway, so imo they should work for package stations as well and be reasonably safe? But of course I have no data to back that up yet. :)
That sounds a bit tricky to put into practice and I am not sure, if it is the best approach. Maybe having more centralized mail boxes could be an alternative, where you have to walk 100m to a self service package station instead of getting home delivery. Most people aren't at home to receive their package anyway, so ringing every door bell just to bring it to a neighbour anyway seems inefficient? The queues before package centres are getting quite long anyway...
@deepbluev7 Some things still need delivery to the door - especially valuable items, deliveries that must absolutely go to the correct person, things that do not fit into lockers...
Absolutely, but I would expect those to be less than 5% of the packages at this point? Most stuff imo can go into lockers and will be safer than when it is left on your porch or at a random neighbour.
in the Netherlands our bike lanes are far from empty, they are mostly congested.
Besides that they are getting more dangerous by the day with normal bikes, e-bikes, fat-bikes, cargo-bikes, etc, all with different speeds and idiots riding them, fighting for space. I believe most accidents here happen on bike lanes. So adding these contraptions on bike lanes is a call for disaster!
