holy shit people are not joking about the AI bots. 92.2% of my total site traffic is from eight user agents directly affiliated with AI. another 6.1% is from SEO related companies that have some sort of AI offering.
only 0.3% of my traffic comes from a regular browser. most of the remaining 1.4% is fedi servers pulling previews, plus some RSS readers grabbing posts.

@Tim Chambers Since the number of platforms are growing, it might be wise to broadcast capabilities, and then display that on people's profiles. So you can look and see if their platform supports threaded conversations, nomadic identity, federated single sign on, or not.
Then maybe add some help text saying explaining what features are available and what that means to someone who is trying to interact with them.
Not having a protocol handler for ActivityPub content is the reason users end up on "foreign" instance pages. And that bandaid, where a foreign instance is prompting you to login to your home server, is very very bad. No user base should ever be conditioned to accept that kind of interaction (a phisher's dream).
This is also the reason why news, blog, etc. sites avoid putting "Share with fedi" buttons on their pages.
Having a protocol handler registered for AP would whisk the user to their preferred fedi app or website to handle whichever kind of request they're initiating. Yes, fedi should be that much like email.
