@futzle Yes, we had our first plays without expansions, but today, Upstairs/Downstairs is a regular fit. We just bought Characters and it's looking promising, but hadn't had the time to give it a try, yet. Don't be afraid of the expansions, they make a great game even better. Once you got used to the game, downtime will be not that much of an issue at least in 2-3P plays. 4-5 (Wessex-expansion)? - uhh!... maybe not so much.
