My SO also got the administrative version of this, being faculty, at a different school.

It feels unreal. My brain has slipped off into fantasy land as self defense.

Deeply, deeply sad. And dead. Like everyone and everything is dead...and died in a really tragic way like The Haunting of Julia music should be playing and everyone leaving the theater is balling and worried and appreciating their loved ones because oh my god what did I just watch, that's the saddest, most tragic ghost story I've ever seen or heard of.

I live in the US. I spend half my time on the verge of tears, freaking out, and losing sleep, and the other half of my time trying distract myself with funny movies and beer.

It feels weird to walk outside and see people doing normal things and going about their day as if nothing catastrophic is going on.

Kids are playing. Live music events are happening. Couples are dining. I don't know when it will hit them.

Doing what I can, but knowing it's not nearly enough.

It's been feeling like walking on eggshells in our own cities and neighborhoods right now. Threats of detainment and deportation are being threatened enmass, to people of all different creeds and nationalities and colors. Peaceful lives are slowly being destroyed.

And that's not to mention what's going on with our governmental bodies right now.

And this is just the preamble.

Not something I ever thought I'd live to see. We always read about the fascists our parents and grandparents helped to defeat.

It was arrogant and naive for us to believe that the "isms" (fascism, nationalism, racism and faith-based terrorism) were going to disappear from humanity or that we were somehow immune to them.

For me, I think the cowardice of the congressional Republicans is the worst part. Have you noticed that, when a Republican announces they are not running again, they suddenly get the courage to criticize, even oppose, Donald Trump? Most of them know he's destroying the country. But they are afraid of being primaried. They could stop most of the damage he is doing, if they had the integrity to put country first. But they're not.

That's the hard part for me.

I was having a panic attack thinking social security was no more Sunday night. They don't pay on weekends and my day was Monday, Feb 3. It came through but I'll worry every month.

They want to make it so we're all worried about ourselves and don't help each other.

As far as I know, if you edit the hashtags in afterwards they won't necessarily show up in searches for those hashtags. For some reason the hashtag search system checks for hashtags the first time it sees a post, but not when the post is edited.

The @ thing is a group and there's a similar situation, it seems to not notice a mention if you edit the mention in afterwards.
