Tl/dr: davinci, Linux, solicited advice
I have been using Linux and Windows in different computers, sp. because of davinci, the film editor, needing less (half of the) memory on Windows.
I want to give it a try again, try davinci on Linux, and will do again a Linux Partition.
So what Linux would people advice, or where I are resources for me to read on this?
(I have a tech background, but no spoons, I don't want to spend eons debugging stuff, so straightforward is better, incl installation).
Searching for this yields a lot of non related stuff, thanks Internet enshitification.
Bonus question, I have Linux mint in a small pc from 2007 with 1G mem. I never managed to get lamp properly installed (just need to update my php based website). Library incompatibility reported.
If anybody has a clue, or if I should just reinstall evtg, including a diff. version of Linux.. Let me know.

DaVinci doesn't work in every Linux disto, only some.
Yes, one can create a container, but that costs resources which I don't have, nor I want to have to spend more time tweaking stuff (I used to like these tech challenges, but I was paid for it).
So, Linux distros in which DaVinci works and thrives, not slugs, solicited advice? Without spending a week doing it?
DaVinci does not work on every GNU/Linux because it is proprietary software. Meaning that distro maintainers can not patch or repackage DaVinci to make it work on their distro.
Instead of trying overcomplicated solutions like containers to get software that does not respect its users working I would honestly just recommend to ditch DaVinci and install either Kdenlive or OpenShot depending on your needs.
It isn't that hard to get DaVinci working. The most important thing is to have proper graphic card (gpu) for this particular application and it have to be correctly installed. All the rest is pretty easy.

Just finished getting debían on it's feet, was easier than I thought, things definitely improved since 2016, when I was doing it quite regularly..
If everything else fails, davinci stays in the windows partition which will never see Internet again, or at least after win 11, and until then not so often. The windows partition has basically gear360, magix and davinci.
If I feel optimist, I try getting davinci on debían or distrobox containing studio or suse. I have AMD, not envidia, so that needs care too.
I was discouraged from the original idea of having davinci in the Linux side when I found the infamous acc codec issue, which makes Linux davinci usage more disk space intensive and needing extra conversion steps.
