I think the shock of it might have turned my whole face inside out.
So apparently sucking on a really sour candy can help with panic attacks? Because it wrenches your system away from everything it’s currently doing so that it can go WTF IS HAPPENING to your mouth.
Our housemate read this and gave me a pack of sour candies to keep in my bag, and I was like “fine, I’ll hold onto them, but I doubt that works,” and then last weekend had a doozy and it did help, knocked it down by about a third. I was impressed!
I’m not fond of unfounded belief.
By that, I mean situations where the facts clearly point in one direction, yet people choose to believe something that contradicts those facts — and persist in upholding that belief in defiance of reality.
Humanity is a doomed species if it continues to place belief above truth.
Working at Meta over the past few years, that’s how I would sum up the mindset of far too many people.
Between Donald Trump and COVID, I learned everything I needed to know about my society.
People will ignore scientific facts, mathematics, and even their own lived experiences — just to preserve beliefs that have been repeatedly disproven.

Ask "stupid questions" where your juniors can see you asking them and getting answers from other people. Don't make juniors feel alone in not knowing something and being the only ones asking for help.

Ich fasse mal zusammen:
Keine Kinder, keine Zuwanderung, keiner da, um Dich zu füttern und Dir den Hintern abzuwischen, wenn Du alt bist.
Wird aber niemanden beeindrucken, da ohnehin kein "mittelalter" Mensch gerne daran denkt, dass er selber mal alt sein wird und dann tatsächlich auf die Pflege anderer Menschen angewiesen sein wird. Das wird von nahezu allen gerne komplett verdrängt. Entweder denkt man "dann bin ich eh tot" oder "ich bleib natürlich fit im Alter". 🤷🏽
